Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie King.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Valerie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Over the past few years, I’ve been very interested in natural body products. I started using an app called “Think Dirty” and quickly realized that most of the products on my bathroom shelf were very toxic. I’ve start to shift over to more natural products slowly, but surely. Earlier this year, I started making my own body butters and scrubs and after getting so many compliments I turned decided to turn it into a business. It took me a while to finally launch and get it up and running but I had to realize that done is better than perfect. Radiant Majesty is in the very beginning stages but I have so many ideas that I can’t wait to bring to life soon!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s definitely been a struggle. I have a full-time job as a recruiter for a Big 4 Accounting Firm. So I travel quite often and attend events and that keeps me super busy. It’s been hard to find time to bring this business to life. Outside of that, I am a wife and a mother to a three years old, the reigning Mrs. Ultimate Beauty of America and the Houston Founder of The Millennial Wives Club. Learning how to prioritize and use my time wisely has been the biggest key to finally getting this business off of the ground.
I’ve also just struggled with being a perfectionist in how I want to present the product to the world. I worked on my product labels for MONTHS before finally deciding on a label that I thought was presentable and worthy enough for production and sharing with the world. In reality, I was really scared to launch and kept finding things wrong with the product label. I finally sat down one day and came up with a simple and clean option that I could easily change and edit in the future. I’m learning that I just need to do the work, and the rest will fall into place.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Radiant Majesty Bodycare story. Tell us more about the business.
Radiant Majesty Bodycare aims to provide your skin with a luxurious experience. All of our ingredients are sourced from vendors that provide 100% natural and organic butters and oils. We strive to provide a product that hydrates, softens and feeds the skin the nutrients that it needs to thrive and give you radiant skin. Our staple product is our body butters but we also currently have bath salts and body scrubs. We plan to continue to expand our product line as we grow the company. We believe that it’s important to treat your skin like royalty and we encourage our customers to utilize our products to promote self-care and healthy skin!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t think luck has played a role at all. I think Shonda Rhimes said it best, “Lucky implies that I was handed something I did not earn, that I did not work hard for…I am not lucky. You know what I am? I am smart, I am talented, I take advantage of the opportunities that come my way and I work really, really hard. Don’t call me lucky. Call me a badass.”
