Today we’d like to introduce you to Pryscylla Ortiz.
Pryscylla, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My journey started when I moved into my own apartment, I made the mistake of moving in somewhere to quickly without doing any research on what I was getting myself into. I found myself locked into an apartment that would have ruined everything I worked for as in my credit, my savings towards security deposits, application fee’s, etc.. The apartment was in a condition that no person should have to live in which saddened me because I knew there were people who didn’t care or dealt with the situation, it just wasn’t fair! I didn’t last a month there, I fought my way out of my lease with no damage done to my credit and a refund of my money back, that’s when I put two and two together..my passion and my purpose. A hobby of mine was always going in to open houses, I’ve always loved looking at houses since I was young girl and I’ve always had the bubbly personality to talk to everyone!!
I regret nothing from my first apartment experience since it gave me the realization of how much I wanted to help others get out of a situation as I did especially with those who have no idea that there is a way out! Based on my experience and hobby of looking at houses I decided to make my way into real estate, best decision I ever made for myself as I’m doing what I love as a hobby and helping others get out of situations informing them they have options, just as I did it for myself I can help them do it for their selves. March 2020 will make two years of being in the industry and it has flown by so far but with much gratitude, success, and many many friendships! By the help of other agents and their passion for helping others with their support and advice takes a good percentage on how I ended up where I am today, also with strong faith and my go get-it attitude as well. I’ve also created a business in dog sitting which helps me grow my real estate business too, I love animals and I’m always available and flexible with helping others any way I can.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The challenges have been thrown all kinds of ways at me, with marketing, building my clientele, learning the Houston market as well as focusing on the specific Woodland’s market, to learning by experience through every different transaction. There is not one transaction that is black and white, there is always something that comes about in the home buying/selling/or renting process that throws every agent for a loop. I’ve even been told by seasonal agents that have been in the industry for over 25+ years that it’s never the same! The paperwork is the same but the clientele, loans, and house always has something come up. Its how you roll with it that makes you unique and stand out to show everyone you’re working with in the transaction that there is always a solution!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Better Homes & Gardens Gary Greene story. Tell us more about the business.
My business started with the help of my career coach at Better Homes & Gardens Gary Greene in The Woodlands office. My career specializes in helping those that want to buy/sell/lease/rent a home, no matter the location I’m always ready to help serve my clients. Although I am an expert in the Houston area, I am licensed all over Texas to practice real estate, that meaning if I have a client interested in moving to Austin, I’d be happy to go above and beyond and learn the Austin market when finding my client a home. Better Homes & Gardens stood out to me mostly due to the atmosphere, broker, career coach, and helpful experienced agents that were always at my fingertips when I needed a question answered or advice on the next step I should take. When interviewing brokerages I came across a few that I didn’t gravitate towards based on what they offered or how they communicated with me if they weren’t available, that’s now how I do business and would not like to represent a business that doesn’t care about their agents. I’m very pleased to represent a company that puts my clients and I as priority above all!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Both good and bad luck have played a variety of roles in my personal and business life, it’s how you perceive things when they occur. At the end of the day, it is what it is and accepts things how and when they come to you at the most convenient or inconvenient times. Keep the faith!!! The best thing I can say luck has given me is being able to be flexible with my time to also have a dog sitting business which in the long run will turn out to be good for my real estate business!
