Today we’d like to introduce you to Ken Chung.
Ken, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Our company started from Philadelphia. We started as small family business ten years ago and as kpops are getting famous, we decide to spread out our Korean fried chicken as well too.
Has it been a smooth road?
After success of our first restaurant, we tried lot of different business too. We’ve tried pizza shop, cellphone, bar, different restaurants but economy in Philadelphia did not help us out. Right now, I have my mother alone back in Philadelphia and my partner Eric has his wife and three kids back in Philadelphia. Since June, when we started our construction here in Soho Chicken, it has been very lonely six months but everything seems to be paying off.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Soho Chicken – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Our main menu is Korean fried chicken. Our sauce is made off fresh ingredient and do not use flavor powders. We also brush each chicken to get our chicken crispy for long time, so even if you order for delivery or pick, our chicken is still crispy for hours. We are also very picky for our chicken too. Our chicken is cage-free and antibiotic-free. We are trying our best to get our chicken perfect and still improving to do it better.
We also have different Korean and Japanese menu too. Bibimbap (assorted vegetable and beef on rice) and galbi(marinated beef rib) is our most selling item in Korean menu. Bulgogi cheese fries is fries with bulgogi (Korean style marinated beef) cheese jalapeno pepper, green onion with spicy mayo sauce top of fries is must have appetizer from Soho Chicken.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
People in Houston are very kind and very outgoing. I could have easily makes friends here. Our contractor, neighbors and our employees here try to help as much as possible for us to feel comfortable in Houston. If I have to pick one thing that I hate about Houston is the weather.
