Today we’d like to introduce you to Wayne Brezz. Him and his team share his story with us below.
Please give us some background on Wayne’s story.
Hailing from Houston Texas, Wayne Brezz is a singer/songwriter with a unique sound, combining old-school R&B with a contemporary pop sound. As long as he can remember, music has been Wayne’s true passion and driving force. From as little as five years old, Wayne was in his parents’ living room, singing and dancing in front of the TV to the musical styling of legends, like the Temptations and Michael Jackson. Wayne reflects, “I don’t think then I knew music would be such a huge impact on my life now, but it’s like a vine that hasn’t stopped growing”. His passion for music continued through his childhood.
In 2005, Wayne was signed by the Cartel Music Group/Underdog Entertainment Group(Los Angles) as a member of an R&B/Pop group. Eventually, the group went their separate ways, opening the door for Wayne to move back to Houston and pursue his solo music career. However, In 2008 Wayne would first join the police academy, where he would serve as Texas Police Officer for 6+ years. He would rise through the ranks of SWAT Operator, Shift Supervisor, Police Instructor, and Detective among others. Soon depression and thoughts of suicide would grow in Wayne’s life, leading him to leave law enforcement to find temporary comfort in the entertainment industry.
Wayne began MC’ing and DJ’ing at several popular Houston night clubs until he would have to face his struggles with alcohol. He quickly grew tired of watching friends he loved, die from alcohol and drugs. Wayne’s search for intimacy led him to find his greatest comfort in his love for Jesus Christ.
In 2018, Wayne would be voted “Top Male Singer” by the Broadcast Houston Award Show for his song “Wanna Know”. He would then release his first single and thought-provoking music video “Rise Above”. November 11, 2018, Wayne would release his second solo album, ‘Rise Above’ independently through his label Output Music Group(OMG). Wayne’s “Rise Above Album Release Concert” was held November 23, 2018 at Warehouse Live and would feature Houston artist; Ashley Toman, Morena Roas, Jelayne, and DJ CID Ray.
In 2019, Wayne received three award nominations from the H-Town Award Show- Music Video of the Year, Breakout Artist of the Year, and R&B Artist of the Year. November 06, 2019, Wayne would win Breakout Artist of the Year and finished the award show with a performance of “Rise Above” with his choir and live band; Vinnie Territo -Lead Guitar, Blake Jackson – Guitar/Keys, Bobby Territo – Bass, William Leroy – Drums, DJ Esco, and 5th Sunday at the Revention Music Center in Downtown Houston.
Wayne notes, “I decided to become a solo artist for several reasons. One, creative control. I think nothing is more satisfying than being able to connect with your fans on a personal level through different experiences I encounter. My experiences birth my creativity. Wayne released three music videos for each of his singles all within a year, directed by Cold Creek Productions, Charlie G.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I volunteer with mental health organizations Heart Support, and Advocacy for Health Minds to help others who are dealing with depression and suicide just as I faced.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
To believe in luck is to believe things happen by chance. There’s no such thing as coincidence to those who don’t believe in chance. I believe in Destiny. I believe a magnificent story of victory has been written for each of us. We all go through storms and seasons of “bad luck”, but it’s my belief these moments cultivate something special in each of us. Something Devine.
