Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Hall.
Stacy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
December 11th, 2017 – I was fired from a stressful sales job that kept me financially comfortable. I was so devastated – “how dare they do this to me!? and at Christmas time!” I was so hurt and scared and looking for someone to blame. This victim attitude had been a theme in my life since December 2009 when I got a divorce. Everything in my life was “happening to me” until I shifted my focus to healing myself and helping others.
Yoga has been my safe place since 2005 when my mom took me to my first class. So I decided to do something sweet for myself (and with all my newfound free time) and enrolled in a 200hr yoga teacher training through a popular studio in Houston. During this three month program, I became really good at communicating cues and saw that my verbal clarity worked well for those who were beginners. My first job was at a YMCA. When I entered the classroom to teach, the students were not at all like the bendy 20 somethings I was teaching during training- these were real people of all ages with limited abilities. How was I going to help them!? What I was taught was hard to apply here. I needed more resources. April of 2019, I tried an anatomy-based yoga studio recommended to me by a friend and I was hooked. The style was one I could follow, I was able to get stronger, and the cherry-picked yoga postures truly benefited my body. Since then, I have completed an additional 200hr anatomy-focused teacher training and completely changed my teaching style to cater to normal folks.
While I have been obtaining extensive knowledge of how the human body works, I created WellTime which is a mobile wellness business. I am passionate about helping those new to movement and those experienced in physical fitness learn their bodies in a whole new way. A little bit of your time during the day goes a long way for your health and doesn’t have to add to the beginning or end of your long day- it’s just part of what you do at work. It is my calling, my dream, my passion to help people feel better at work and to have better quality of life.
Has it been a smooth road?
‘No one is going to do it for you, and you can’t do it alone” — Unknown
This has become one of my most recent favorite quotes. From my family to my teachers and friends, current and former employers- everyone has had a part in my growth and development. This is one amazing journey and it truly takes a village behind you as you trudge uphill.
My original business name was Inspire Yoga Houston which turned out to infringe on an already existing business so I created an LLC which is now WellTime.
Going after the business you want takes guts. You get a lot of “No”s before you get to a “Yes”. Having a sales and marketing background has definitely helped.
It is an all-hours job with no breaks. Building a brand is not for the faint of heart.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
WellTime is a mobile wellness company founded on movement for those in an office environment, I bring yoga to corporate offices spanning all industries and get employees moving and feeling better.
I am most proud of the feedback from the students who have taken my classes at their office. Hearing how yoga has helped them is my why!
The beginner-focused anatomy-based style of movement I teach sets me apart from others doing what I do. I only teach movements which will truly benefit those in an office setting.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Houston is full of diverse businesses! There is so much opportunity just within our city- too much for any one person to reach. I couldn’t think of a better place to be building the WellTime brand.
