Meet Brooke Gary of Utopia Med Spa in Uptown Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Gary.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well, I am Brooke, a single mother of two and a Nurse injector. I was born and raised in New Iberia,Louisiana and graduated Nursing school in December of 2012. I knew I needed a better shot at life, different scenery and more opportunities. I started looking for jobs in Texas quickly, although I felt I wasn’t having much luck. I was close to giving up when I got a call for a nurse position with a plastic surgeon in Webster. I was offered the job, and moved to Alvin, Tx pretty much broke with two kids and determined. I set goals, I wanted to give my kids a better life and become more in Life. I worked for a year with this particular physician before obtaining another nurse position with a plastic surgeon in Sugarland, Tx. During this employment, I became very interested in doing invasive treatments, including Injectables. The physician gave me the opportunity and platform to start with Injectables. I attended conferences, training, symposiums, and had in house training with different companies. I had a drive to keep climbing in my profession, and after three years began the search for a new position with a new physician. I feel things happen in life in order for change to take place, so from that I landed a Nurse Injector position with Utopia Med Spa and Dr. Franklin Rose. This brings me to my current job/position and place in the Injecting world.

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, some due to life circumstances and some due to poor choices made being young. Moving to Texas, a single mom of two little kids and working a full-time nursing position was hard. So many times I wanted to give up or move back home to have help, but I didn’t give up. I didn’t have parents to root for me, help me, encourage me or tell me whats right or wrong. Also, moving to a new state means not knowing anyone and having to make new friends. Thankfully, I’ve met pretty amazing people and friends along this journey. I definitely had bumps in the road in my first two positions as a nurse, but without that I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about you and your career so far?
I am a Nurse Injector in the Cosmetic/Plastic Surgery world. I currently work for Utopia Med Spa, under Dr. Franklin Rose. Most people know me from Instagram as brookeginjector! I mostly work with injectables, such as Botox, Dysport, Fillers, etc. I also perform other procedures at the Medspa, such as microneedling, lasers, and body sculpting. I take pride in my work, it’s like an art. I try and connect with my patients more on a personal level. I like my patients to feel comfortable around me and trusting of me.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Houston is BOOMING in the plastic surgery world/industry. For someone just starting out, I’d say get as much knowledge in the field and understanding of anatomy as possible. You can never have enough training and knowledge, we (they) are always finding new ways of improving results and safety. Start out as a clinical nurse in plastic surgery, get the feel for the industry. Houston is huge there are several Surgeons and Injectors, but if you reach out most are willing to communicate and give advice. Injectors around the city are friendly and knowledgeable.
