Meet Tershara Matthews-Shabazz of Trends Wedding and Lifestyle Magazine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tershara Matthews-Shabazz.

Tershara, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have been in the wedding planning business at the time I started Trends for 13 years. I noticed that the mainstream magazines were not featuring Trends that my brides were interested in or liked. Hence the name Trends. I started the magazine in 2017. The magazine is an International magazine. We have been invited to bridal shows across the world. We were able to gain access by working with emerging designers that needed to be featured and we needed to be recognized in the industry. It has been a win-win relationship.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. With such a big market, it is hard to be recognized. Going to the bridal shows and speaking with the bridal gown designers has helped us. The designers are able to put a name with a face. The magazine is an International Luxury Magazine and it hard to get into that market but we are making strides.

Please tell us about Trends Wedding and Lifestyle Magazine.
My company is an International Luxury Wedding Magazine. Our target audience is luxury wedding couples. We feature not only information for brides but for grooms as well. We are moving away from the traditional bride magazine with just the focus on the bride but we feature a groom on the cover of our Winter/Spring Editions. This sets us apart for the mainstream. We also specialize in featuring emerging designers. We love the work that they are doing and want to make them have global reach for their beautiful designs.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have had a better website designed for the magazine. I started the magazine and then I was like I need a website. It was definitely a rookie mistake.
