Today we’d like to introduce you to LaKeisha Harrell.
Thanks for sharing your story with us LaKeisha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I really started unintentionally styling and doing personal shopping when I was eight years old with my Aunt, LOL! I had always wanted to be a teacher until she exposed me to all the stores and brands! That passion for fashion grew as I got older, which grew to my taking my passion into business a little over ten years ago. I would walk into a store and walk into a deal instantly! My family and friends would be shocked at the deals I would find and how I put it together to get a slamming outfit! I really got here where I am today by the grace of God and word of mouth thru my wonderful clients!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh, definitely not! I believe their is an adversary that fights you to take you off course and away from what you are passionate about, what you are purposed to do! Some of my main struggles was charging people because I am a giver at heart! And then from there, pricing myself too low, due to not knowing my worth and knowing confidently that I am worthy!
Please tell us about La. Harrell Styling Company.
I am the CEO and Lead Wardrobe Stylist at La. Harrell Styling Company and I am also the creator of styling for GOD. Well, actually God is because he gave me that name! At La. Harrell Styling Company, we specialize in helping entrepreneurs integrate their personal style and brand! My company, styling for God, was a style inspiration Instagram page turned into t-shirt business turned into my private FB group to give some style tips, announce different shopping deals, and just inspire people with the word of God! I love to show people that modesty is not boring! I also tell my clients that I want people to know you mean business just from looking at you! I am known for putting together looks at ridiculously low costs, and educating people on how they can do the same. I am very proud of that because people may not need to hire a wardrobe stylist for everything, but what you taught them will last and can carry over to them styling themselves. I take pride in seeing a client who I didn’t style, but it looks like I did! I come at styling different due to me honoring God with it, he gave me the gift and I want to be honorable with it! I want to restore integrity back to modest styling!
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory was getting up with my Aunt on Saturday mornings at 7am and going to all of the stores(Macy’s, Nordstrom’s, Goodwill, Baubles and Beads, Target, Marshall’s, etc.) ad then we would always lunch at Cafe Express then head back out to more stores. We would not get home until 11-12pm. It never got tiring to me, it just energized me! Keep in mind this went on for years, lol!
