Today we’d like to introduce you to Cecily Williams.
Cecily, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a little girl, I took a great interest in makeup. I would come home from school and try different eyeshadow looks and lipstick combos. Looking back now, I can say that I definitely was making myself look like a clown lol but it was still good practice! I loved playing makeup games and going to different websites such as MyScene.com to practice on the virtual dolls. As I got into college, those skills became better and others started to realize my talent. Different people would ask me to “beat” their face or simply just to practice on them. Of course, this was nerve-wracking to me because I found it more difficult to do makeup on someone else other than myself. Although I was nervous doing other makeup, I realized that I loved the feeling of making someone else feel great about themselves and enhancing their beauty and confidence. It also was a way for me to express the artistic side of me.
After I graduated college, I decided to become more serious with my craft and really believe in the gift that God has given me. Thus, Cecily Jada Makeup Artistry was created. I am at the point where everyday I am trying to become better in this industry. I find myself spending hours looking at different YouTube channels and other makeup artists’ Instagram so that I may learn better techniques or ways to build my makeup kit up. Although I just launched my makeup business, I am confident that 2020 will be a great year for Cecily Jada Makeup Artistry! I am super excited to see what the future holds and just as grateful for the support I have already received. Thank you all so much!!!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This road has absolutely not been smooth. Matter of fact, I would say that there is construction being done on my road so it has potholes, cracks and lumps lol. Although this journey has been hard for me, I know it will all be worth it in the end! One thing with the makeup business is that you have to have clients in order to make money. It has been somewhat of a struggle to build up my clientele, especially being new, but I know that it’s all about the hustle. Another difficult part has been building up my makeup kit with the tools I need to do my job correctly. With time I have been able to build a pretty good kit but I know that in the future, I will have a great one! I am putting all of my faith in God and trusting that He will have my back through all of my struggles on this journey. My road has a construction cones on it now but soon it will be completed and smooth with brand new concrete.

Cecily Jada Makeup Artistry is a company that provides beauty enhancements for everyone. Through makeup, I am able to make my clients look and feel better than they did when they walked in a while boosting their confidence to another level. I specialize in smooth finishing makeup that will have you glowing all around. My purpose is to not make my clients look like someone they’re not, but rather to take their God-given features and simply make them pop. I think one thing that sets Cecily Jada Makeup Artistry apart from others is the overall experience you receive. The client’s experience is not just about making their face look great but also building an everlasting bond that will have you wanting to come back and recommending my company to others.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by whether or not I have made my clients happy and I have them returning to my chair. When the client finally looks at themselves in the mirror and I see a big smile come across their face, then I know I have succeeded in doing my job. My criteria for success does not come from Instagram likes or retweets on Twitter, but rather in knowing that I have made my clients feel special and beautiful.
