Girls all around the world want to be their own CEO (girl boss) as most are calling it these days. As for me, I didn’t just want to I knew I wanted to start my own business. Now keep in mind I’m still just an ordinary teenage high schooler but I wanted to be somebody. I wanted to put myself out there and create a brand that everyone would love. It all started in the middle of May 2019, I spent weeks upon weeks doing research on how to create a business and understand the basics of marketing. I first opened up my shop June 7th, 2019 and let me tell you it was the most thrilling moment I’ve had in years, but it’s true what they say owning a business is definitely not easy. The constant battle of knowing whether or not this will succeed got to me a few months later.
Although I wanted to give up several times, I knew in the bottom of my heart this is what I was meant to do. Then around late December, my business started growing rapidly. I got to host my first vendor event which attracted lots of attention from older adults because they were in complete shock I was doing all of this by myself. With the constant promotions through social media outlets my business was becoming popular and I couldn’t be more proud of myself for sticking through it.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My journey throughout this chapter of my life was definitely not easy to say the least. During the rough patch within my business I went through a major heartbreak and that was the point in my life where I almost gave up on everything. I had adolescent depression, anxiety, and my schoolwork was going down. But little did I know losing that person was the best thing that could have ever happened to me and my business. A couple of months passed by and I woke up inspired and did a complete 180 on my life. I put my full attention and energy into my business and man oh man it definitely payed off. You could tell the excitement I had with every new product launch and see the passion and drive I achieved within my small break. Of course, I had the typical “hate” towards my business but that comes with the job of being your own boss. Everyone thinks the makeup industry is overly “saturated” but what they don’t know is that not everyone can create and stick to owning their own business. I know along the way I’ll have more struggles, but I can honestly say I’m ready for them.

Most companies care more about the numbers and the publicity they’re getting rather than the quality of the products they’re releasing. I take my time creating each and every product I launch from the ingredients, packaging, and product shots. I believe that my brand stands apart from others with a strong story and meaning behind it.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future are going to be extraordinary. I can feel such a huge accomplishment coming soon not only for me but for my business. I plan to expand my cosmetics line and bring in new makeup that everyone is going to love. I’ll be continuing to work on being consistent with posting regularly on social media and making my hobby into my full-time job. Who knows I could even open up my own shop right here in Houston!
