Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Chase.
So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In March 2016, I felt my first nudge from God telling me to go into prayer and fasting; something I’ve never done before. I then heard God say don’t do it alone but instead invite a few others. I messaged 4 of my friends and they all agreed to do it with me. We then each messaged a few other people and by the end of that day, 29 ladies joined in with us. So for a full week, we fast and prayed on a prayer line every morning. Once the week was over, I thought that was the end, but that was just the beginning. More people started dialing into the prayer line each evening so we decided to keep it going. The ladies and myself decided to form a group, which is now a non-profit called Powerful Praying Women. Our center foundation is praying so we broadened the prayer line and added a kids and men night of prayer.
Then in Oct 2017, I got another nudge from God to follow Him completely. One divine day, which was two weeks after I got a raise on my job that hadn’t taken effect yet, I was called into a brief meeting with my sup and in that moment God said it was time for me to leave my job. I put my resignation letter in and had NO IDEA what I was going to do next. I planned in my mind that I would take a break until the beginning of the year, then I would easily and quickly find a better job and get back to the normal routine. The first Monday I was home, I realized I couldn’t just sit home and do nothing. So I decided to do a quick live on FB and just read a scripture and give a bit of hope. I was still leading prayer every night on the prayer line so there were some people that tuned into the live. I remember having like 50 viewers by the end of the day and thinking I was really on to something, lol. Since I’m used to working, I made a pact with God and said I would do a daily morning devotion on FB live, until I went back to work. Well, here we are two years and three months later.
In 2018, I began getting another nudge that I needed to branch out from the umbrella of PPW (Powerful Praying Women). One morning around 2am, my husband calls from work and says God has given him our very own business name, Chase Vision. Chase is our last name and Vision came from the idea I left my job to follow God’s vision. So I then transitioned over to Chase Vision. Our mission is to help individuals and families heal, rebuild and chase their vision. Along with the morning devotions, I also started doing a social gathering for adults called Let’s Chat & Chill. It’s a fun, enlightening and intimate event where adults come to rediscover who they are and learn how to live on and in purpose! We have food, music, giveaways and just a chill experience with other like-minded people. We have done two so far and prayerfully will get to hit at least seven more states this year.
The thing that sets Chase Vision apart from most other ministries is that we are very untraditional. No one in my family is into ministry and I have a Bachelor’s in Accounting. How I got to this point where I’m speaking to thousands every morning, only God knows. But my mission is to be a light and encouragement for all of God’s children, especially those who feel lost, forsaken or condemned. God tells us He came for the sick and there are many of us who are sick/weak in our faith and need to know Him better so we can be healed and saved. Being we are very untraditional, I came up with the slogan Real Ratchet Religious. It means we are Real like David, Ratchet like Peter and Religious like Job. Just a group of men and women who are coming to God just as we are and allowing His love, grace and mercy to make us better!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I like to say, This thing called life and journey called Faith definitely ain’t no joke! This has by far being the most challenging, scariest, invigorating and life changing thing I’ve ever done. Coming from having a job and a bi-weekly paycheck, to literally waking up each morning having to trust God, just as the Children of Israel did when they were in the wilderness.
Not only did this leap of faith test my family and I in our finances, but of course our marriage. It took some time for my husband to really grasp the idea of God telling me, his wife, to just leave her job. Then with there being a stigma about “women spiritual teachers” that also brought a bit of adversity. Along with the daily question of “why did I quit my job?” Following God was my purpose that God positioned inside of me long before I entered into my mother’s womb. When I put my resignation letter on that day in October, I didn’t know exactly what I was being led to do, but I definitely didn’t see this coming.
But I do realize, when you know and are fulfilling your purpose, nothing or no one will ever be able to stop or defeat you. Many mornings I wake up frustrated or weary because it’s hard-working and not necessarily getting the benefits as others with a 9-5. But when I see the thousands that tune in daily and the countless messages of thanks, it reminds me that my life isn’t my own. I’ve been placed in this position to draw others to God and the very thought of lives being reached, touched and changed far outweighs all of the struggles I’ve endured.
Please tell us about Chase Vision.
Chase Vision is a ministry that has a mission to help individuals and families heal, rebuild and chase their vision. We do daily morning devotion on FB Live where we gather and I give a few scriptures along with encouragement. I also offer private chat sessions for those who need a listening ear and prayer or words of encouragement. What we are known for is the social event we host called Let’s Chat & Chill. This is where adults get together and eat, dance, laugh and chat about things to help them rediscover who they are and their purpose.
We have also started a yearly homeless giveback mission called Kool Kids Share. My son Quincy Jr. who has a huge heart of giving, decided back in 2018 that he wanted to share his birthday with others by giving care packages to the homeless. So every year in November, in recognition of his birthday, we go to the streets or a homeless shelter to give back.
And then there’s my Nonprofit PPW, where we also demonstrate the love and giving of Jesus by helping different groups of people throughout the year. We assist seniors with graduation fees, provide financial assistance towards electricity bills during the summer for those in need, provide gift cards to single parents to help with back to school expenses, sponsor Thanksgiving meals for families and finally give gift bags to the nursing home residents during Christmas time.
The thing I’m most proud of is that my family and I are able to fulfill our purpose together by being a light of hope to the world and giving God all the Glory while doing so!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Humility. That’s the one most important characteristic that’s necessary in this life and definitely on this journey of faith. Because this is all God’s plan, I have to not only remain humble but live humble. My success isn’t determined by the material things I accumulate, the titles nor the level I reach, but instead by how many lives God is able to reach, touch and change through me.
