Meet Anabelle Roman of Karana Audiovisual Services, LLC in West Side

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anabelle Roman.

Anabelle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Well… My journey has been inspired by many challenges, amazing people, and learning experiences. Just to start I was born in The Bronx, New York but I am blessed to say that I was raised in Paradise… Puerto Rico. My heart and roots belong to Enchanted Island, beautiful beaches, mountains, rivers and thank God this is an article because if it were a video you can also hear my Caribbean Breeze accent. Which I am very proud of.

I completed my bachelor’s degree in Media Communication, Advertising, and Marketing and then my master’s degree in International Marketing at the amazing Sacred Heart University (Universidad del Sagrado Corazón) in Puerto Rico. I also completed the third degree in Spain, Business in Europe.

I have been in the technology and entertainment industry since I was 16 years old. In 2015 my husband, my three boys and I decided to move to Houston, Texas. Why Houston? We like the idea of moving to a city with business opportunities, good education for my kids, and a good lifestyle. Since then, Houston has become our home and we are truly grateful. For that and the people and companies that have opened their door to us.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Describing myself in one word is DETERMINED. That’s what has saved me from different difficult times and scenarios. Especially during these Covid-19 times. Been part of the event industry in 2020 was and is one of the hardest things that could happen to me, my team, my friends, and colleagues. A time where we all were in financial limbo, not counting the poor support received by the government, and funding programs. That first month was a very crucial one.

I am very proud to say that I am today 200% stronger, successful, and optimistic than what I was on that March 1st when I started to receive canceled event notifications. Our team, my husband, and I started to polish some other skills in video production, virtual events, editing, filming, and content creation to reinvent ourselves to a new business model. And IT WORKS! Thanks to that we have been able to help other businesses to communicate and promote their messages. Assisting non-profit organizations to create virtual events with stories full of hope that invite people to contribute and support their mission of helping others. We have been able to serve the Hospitality Industry with virtual tours that explain how they will be providing clean, comfortable, and safe environments to the guest, event planners, and attendees. And so on, we continued to develop creative ideas to deliver storytelling videos that can help other businesses, organizations, and community movements. Our main goal is to connect people. It’s been 9 months since the Pandemic hit Houston and I have witnessed how Karana has transformed chaos into an opportunity. To Help. To Inspired. To Support.

Tell us about Karana Audiovisual Services, LLC – what should we know?
Karana AV is a one-stop-shop technology and audiovisual service provider for corporates, worship facilities, hotels, restaurants, schools, and non-profit organizations. 10 years+ serving other organizations with their virtual and physical event productions. Karana Audiovisual has audiovisual equipment rental, AV Integration, Audio, Video, Lighting, Streaming Engineers, and a Full Video production department with camera operators, cinema cameras, and an editing studio.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
To say I am a go-getter is an understatement. I don’t know what is to give up. And when things get harder is when I am more into it. But what I think could be the secret to all the blessings my family, my business and I received every day is what we can do for others. My mission is to inspire and encourage people to work hard for their dreams and goals. If I have the tools to guide them, then I have the responsibility to share it. To genuinely help others when is needed and to always be a student minded to keep growing. Emotional Intelligence is the easiest way to describe it. It is my non-stop educational process to attract people, to coach, to lead, and to be heard.
