Life and Work with Lauren Daniels

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Daniels.

Lauren, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My love for photography and travel began when I was very young. My family traveled as often as possible and I was always in charge of taking photos on the trips. For high school, I attended a school in Downtown Houston, which gave me the opportunity to explore the city and all that it has to offer. After my sophomore year of high school, I decided I wanted to share my love for photography and travel by creating an Instagram page called “Lulu’s Everyday Life”. I wanted the name to be unique, so I combined my nickname, “Lulu”, and “Everyday Life” to portray my daily adventures.

In 2016, I decided to create www.luluseverydaylife.com featuring a travel blog and my photography portfolio. Once I completed high school, I continued my education at The University of Texas at Austin, where I am currently studying audiology. My goal is to complete my undergraduate studies early, spend a semester working and traveling, and pursue a Doctor of Audiology (AuD) degree.

Has it been a smooth road?
College alone is very difficult. Trying to maintain good grades, get involved in extracurriculars, build a great resume, and also have a social life outside of all these activities is hard. On top of all of this, it’s difficult to update Lulu’s Everyday Life. It’s crucial, first of all, that you receive enough sleep to stay healthy and stay focused throughout the day. Remember to also have fun on your time off and take time for yourself, whether that means watching TV, cooking, reading a book, or going for a walk. Stay focused and always remember your goals!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Lulu’s Everyday Life – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am currently studying audiology at UT Austin, which takes up a lot of my time. Not only am I taking classes, but I am also doing research, volunteering at an elementary school, and I am involved in a few organizations on campus. In addition to all of this, I run a website featuring a travel blog and a photography portfolio. Whenever I have free time, I explore Texas to update my portfolio and collect data to write new blog posts. I also try to travel around the U.S. and the world as often as possible to have a diverse collection of photos and posts. The thing that sets me apart from others is that I am a college student pursuing a doctoral degree and maintaining a travel blog. I am proud that I decided to start my blog at such a young age and I have been able to manage it while continuing my education.

What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
The most important piece of advice for young women starting their careers is chase your dreams and do not give up! Good things take time and a lot of work!
