Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Behrend.
Mike, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Green is a Kosher vegetarian restaurant that started in 2007 in San Antonio, Texas. We are Family owned and operated. We opened our Houston Location in 2014, on the corner of Bellaire and Chimney Rock. The food we serve is elevated diner style vegan and vegetarian food with a 100% vegan bakery. We also happen to be certified Kosher.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. We have had the same struggles as most businesses… Staffing, consistency etc. But, over time, we have built a great team that is motivated to share the good news of a plant-powered diet.
Please tell us about your business.
We are pioneers sharing the plant-powered message. We want to show our guests that healthier, greener food can taste amazing and be satisfying as well. We also want to be a beacon of hope for those transitioning to a plant-based or vegan lifestyle. You don’t have to give up all of your favorites to eat a forward plant diet. You can still have some of your favorites like a hearty burger or homestyle chicken fried chicken with gravy and mashed potatoes.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
We’re different. Our mission is different. We want to serve those who want to eat a plant-forward diet. We also want to do it with integrity. Integrity is the most important characteristic of our organization. We strive to offer only our best in food and service.
