Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Dishman.
Dominique, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My grandmother always said, “if you love to eat, you better know how to cook!” At an early age, I was infatuated with food. At times it was an escape for me. The tastes smell and many combinations mystified me. I began cooking at the age of eight, as I matured and grew older. My palate became more refined. I became more experimental. I loved everything about food, the joy it brings and the satisfaction shown in the countenance of others. When I first moved to Houston and my network began to grow, my friends would see my food posts from my personal IG page and insisted that I cook for them. At social gatherings, 9/10, I was on the grill, working to ensure that others have a unique flavor-filled experience. As people grew to love my food, I was designated to cook at many events. With the support of close friends, I was heavily encouraged to start my own meal prep and catering company. And here we are today.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Initially, I had a huge amount of support when I began to promote my business. But behind the scenes, there were some challenges. I wanted to offer combinations and variations of food that would truly satisfy the client’s options. Crafting the menu, pricing and studying my target market was tedious. Also, planning and preparing meals became experimental, examining pricing and tracking ingredients was a daily task before I actually launched. I spent a hefty amount of time constructing my business page on Instagram so that it may also be aesthetically pleasing. With anything worthwhile, it’ll take time and preparation to get the results you want.
We’d love to hear more about your business.

My Christian faith is what has kept me grounded. I stepped out on faith to do something I have never done before. I didn’t know how successful I would be or if I would dramatically fail. Nonetheless, regardless of success or failure, I understood that I still would learn. Experience & learning is priceless and essential to growth. My strength and tenacity to press forward, along with my willingness to help others in any capacity, come from my relationship with Jesus Christ. Every time I open my eyes to start my day, or when I’m standing over my stove cooking I am reminded of Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you declares The Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
