Meet Grant Chesshir of Chariot Tattoo in Webster and Nasa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Grant Chesshir.

Grant, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was getting tattooed heavily and fell in love with everything about it. The smells and sounds of the shop, the pain of getting tattooed, the feeling when you leave with a new tattoo, just everything about it was and is magical. Eventually, I was presented with an opportunity to learn the craft, took it, and have been happily tattooing since.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, it hasn’t been entirely smooth, but that’s part of what makes it so rewarding. I would say finding a balance between tattooing and the rest of my life is the constant main struggle. It’s an obsessive type of job for me, and it’s hard sometimes to leave it all in my station some days. There’s always something else to draw, another thing to paint, more reference material to find, an old tattoo to scrutinize over and on and on. The energy put into that can often take away from the energy left over for friends and loved ones and even self-care.

Chariot Tattoo – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I tattoo at Chariot Tattoo in Webster, TX. We are known for American traditional and Japanese style tattoos, but we also offer other styles depending on the client’s needs. You can come to Chariot and get a name, a tiny matching tattoo with your friends, a righteous eagle, a sleeve or even a full back or body suit. We are proud to offer consistent, long lasting tattoos to our clients. We try to give everyone the tattoo they deserves a fair price, and that’s what sets apart.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I look forward to meeting and tattooing more great people in the future. I’ve been fortunate to have such great clients so far.
