Stephanie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I first started my business as a coach, I ran my very first challenge with only 10 clients at a public park. I had recently graduated college and was working a full time job that was not relatable to my field of study. I found myself as a recent college graduate, getting comfortable at a full time job I wasn’t truly happy in, and had found a passion (fitness) that wasn’t relatable to my degree nor current employer. I had one decision to make; either pursue a career with my degree or work even harder to slowly grow in what I truly have a passion for. The decision I made is obvious; I followed my heart.
I came up with a plan that included staying at my full time job, which allowed time flexibility for my side job (as a coach). This plan involved a lot of consistent hard work and effort, starting my day at 7am and ending at 10pm to repeat it all over again the next day until I could finally quit my full-time job and fully commit to helping others achieve their health and fitness goals. Fast forward one year, I was able to quit my full-time job to finally give my own goals and dreams my 110%. It’s been almost three years since. Throughout those years I have expanded my four week in person challenges and have started online coaching as well. I am now helping hundreds of clients reach their health and fitness goals each month. Recently, I got my very own training studio which is set to be fully completed in May 2020.
New goals have been achieved, future goals are being set, and this is JUST the beginning of my story!
Has it been a smooth road?
There has definitely been a lot of struggles in the past 2-3 years. A few of these obstacles were not having my own place to call home, being limited to space/slots, issues in the locations I was leasing to run my challenges and having to constantly relocate because of it, and juggling my full time job while coaching on the side.
So many moments of stress and frustration. Some days/weeks are more exhausting than others, but not once have I regretted choosing this career path. The fact that I’m able to play a role in helping others gain their confidence back and teach them the importance of self care makes it all 100% worth it.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Throughout my four week challenges (in-person) and six week online challenges I help women and men burn fat and build muscle with high intensity interval training using resistance bands.
The in person challenges are performed as a group four times a week and each workout is one hour long. The online challenge consists of the same training/exercises and can all be performed at home with resistance bands. The workouts are accessible 24/7 throughout the six weeks of the challenge.
What I am most proud of as a company? I would say being able help these women/men realize what can be achieved in such a short period of time with hard work and consistency. Helping them understand the importance of self care to live a happy and healthy life.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Definitely! I think it’s a great location for all surrounding areas since I’m not too far out from the center of Houston.
Yes, I’ve coached clients who have never performed this type of training or are just starting out their fitness journey. It’s definitely challenging, but everything is performed at your own pace. I’d say it’s a great kick start to your fitness journey if you give it your 100% throughout the 4-6 weeks!
