Hope, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I became a nanny when I was 20 years old and still in College. At first, It was just a job. It comes naturally for me to care for children because I am the eldest of my siblings, and I’ve been doing it all my life lol! Being a nanny is so rewarding at times cause you’re there to teach and help children grow into independent individuals. It eventually became a passion of mine, and I know so many people with children, so in 2015, I decided to start my own nanny agency! 1st Class Nannies takes pride in delivering 1st class child care to families all over Houston and now crossing over into the Dallas metroplex areas.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting a business is always a struggle! Lol! First, I had to do all the paperwork to get my business started, develop a business model, and market my company to the right audience. Find clients and Quality Nannies. Build my website exactly the way I envisioned it. And till today, I’m still competing with several other nanny agencies in the Houston area alone! It’s not easy at all!
Tell us more about the business.
1st Class Nannies is similar to Care.com, instead more exclusive. We take pride in giving quality service to families all over Houston. Our nannies have all been screened for drug, criminal background and traffic violations. Nannies must have verifiable references. And all our nannies are required to obtain CPR certification, must take child safety and neglect course and pass with an 80%.
