Meet Aisha Tadese of EniGized Fitness in Southwest

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aisha Tadese.

Aisha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I weighed 225 at 14 years old that’s when we knew this had become a big problem. I went from the biggest couch potato known to man to being a Fitness influencer and advocate. I started my fitness journey back when I was borderline. I joined the High school drill team, which help familiarize myself with getting active, and that’s where it started. I accidentally lost 20 pounds from the first semester alone. I started getting compliments then gained it back + excess over the summer & that’s when the weight loss/ gain roller coaster began. Becoming obsessed with wanting to be skinny, I started doing extreme stuff like eat the ONLY watermelon for 14 days or do the Cheyenne pepper, and lemon drink cleanse. Fad Diets became my best friend. I would try a new one every few months. You name it & I’ve done it.

After this ongoing cycle, I figured there had to be a better way of living and still getting that body I wanted so badly. And so that’s exactly what I did. I started living. I did not see working out as a chore anymore. It became my stress reliever, the time I would use to reflect. After thinking like that, I started to find things I liked to do, like group classes or boxing. This made the process much more fun. Then for the diet, I challenged myself to make it a lifestyle. Making healthier choices but still enjoying what I like to eat. I LOVE FOOD, so this was a very personal relationship. And although I still struggle today, I make sure I am consistent.

Consistency is what I preach so much because it is the only thing that has gotten me here today -90 pounds. Here where I am promoting fitness to others and promoting how to live healthier. I owe everything to always being consistent in reminding myself how bad I wanted it—being consistent on the days I am not motivated to choose broccoli or fries or ignoring my PMS and going to do cardio. I feel that is what people appreciate about my brand, “EniGized Fitness” is my consistency. People see that I still go hard no matter what, whether I am comfortable at my weight or I need to shed. I have made it my lifestyle, and I strive to continue Preaching and practicing just that.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Heck no! The most mental journey ever. Apart from the many struggles with staying consistent is when you hit a plateau. That’s when you do not see any more results, and it is very mind babbling. This happens every so often when you are trying to achieve new goals. This is your body telling you to do a little more and push a little harder.

During the first few years, I would give up every time I hit a plateau in my weight loss journey. As soon as I felt stuck, I would go and undo all the progress I made, by either doing away with my meal plan or killing myself in the gym. It took me gaining and losing and doing it over and over, always hitting a stall at one point. So that’s when I decided “how about you just keep going when you hit that stall, Just keep going?” so I did that. It is very mental, however doing that with my weight and fitness, as allowed me to apply that same mindset to my everyday life. When you feel like giving up, DONT!

Please tell us about your business.
My brand is EniGized Fitness. I am a personal trainer and coach. I call myself a coach because I believe my work goes beyond the gym and our sessions together. I like to coach my clients to make this a lifestyle so that even when I am no longer their trainer, my coaching would have trained them on how to do this one their own. What sets me apart from others is that I am living the same lifestyle that I promote. A lot of people can not relate to their clients simply because they do not know the struggle, but I do, and I make that every evident.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Those who have supported and contributed to my journey thus far has to be my Siblings (Yewande, Fatima, and Quam) They have been my biggest cheerleaders in all aspects—always reminding me of the accomplishments I tend to down play a lot. Another person has to be my favorite trainer Atarhe Clarke @Atarhe if I start to tell everyone about how he has been a blessing to my journey from being his client to now partner in the fitness industry. The story is long, but he has pushed me into so many opportunities that have contributed to my brand today. So thank you to him.
