Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Fuller and Barbara Melchior.
Lisa and Barbara, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all started back in 2004. Well, maybe it started longer ago than that, like when we were born within 19 months of each other and grew up as close as sisters can be.
Anyway, in 2004 we went to West Monroe, Louisiana for a girl’s weekend with our college roommates. We went to this cool store, Bath Junkie. and being bath junkies ourselves, we loved it. Once we scrubbed our hands with the exfoliating salt scrub and made tons of products, we went to the check-out counter to pay. The owner gave us a brochure which had information on franchise opportunities. By the time we finished our drive back to Houston we had decided that Houston needed a Bath Junkie and that we were the team to open it. We just had to convince our husbands that it was a good idea.
We were able to that and we were the first in Houston, and are the only remaining location in Texas. We have been in the same location since we opened in November, 2004 and are here to help you custom blend your bath, body, pet and home products.
Has it been a smooth road?
The main obstacle that we have had to face was purchasing the franchise with the remaining Bath Junkie locations from the corporate owners. We had to work through corporate’s bankruptcy and other issues, being an independently owned company has been great.
We also had to work through setting up our own web-site. Our business is so customized that it took many hours to get all of our products, scents and colors to display correctly. It has been up for two years.
Now if we can get Bay Area Blvd road construction finished, life will be perfect!

We are a retail location that custom blends bath, body, home and pet products. You can pick your scent and tint and we will whip up your products right here while you wait.
We have around 60 base products, over 200 fragrances to choose from, along with a wide variety of colors. We also custom blend makeup, including lipstick, it is a hands-on operation, and we pride ourselves in our customer service. We know that this is what sets us apart from other bath stores, and it is what keeps our customers coming back.
We do have customers that have shopped with us since we opened in 2004!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
We think Houston is a great place to start a business, at least it has been for us.
Houston has a great mix of people with different interests and backgrounds, going in different directions, which seems to be beneficial for the retail business.
