Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Haas.
Jason, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In 2005, I joined YouTube using the family’s Gateway desktop and my mother’s pink Casio digital camera creating videos storytelling with Pokemon roms to tutorials on jailbreaking your iPhone. Transitioning from John J. Pershing Middle School to Mirabeau B. High School, Instagram was released and a lot of people would judge your profile by how “artsy” it was.. I pulled the absolute best quality out of my Android phone to successfully impress girls. As I approach my senior year of high school, I wanted to up the ante with DSLR quality. Due to lack of disposable funds nor the availability on my class schedule to join yearbook to check out a camera, I hustled friends and ex-girlfriends to use their families DSLR. I was able to trial Canon, Nikon and Sony to what I really liked about them when I purchase one down the road. I volunteered to photograph and record Lamar’s football games, setting a camera up on a tripod to record myself playing at a piano recital to getting paid to take mutual friend’s senior pictures.
After not knowing what I wanted to do career-wise that’ll tie into college, I decided to go to Houston Community College in the meantime and start my own business. At nineteen years old, I filed for my DBA and LLC as Haas Productions, LLC. I volunteered at Lakewood Church to now being a compensated contractor there and St. Luke’s Methodist: The Story. I started traveling with Joel Osteen Ministries photographing and recording for the Night of Hopes.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Coming from a family in Third Ward Houston with lack of disposable funds, it’s been egregious. I’m in a lot of credit card debt with high-interest rates investing into high-quality equipment. Although, being planted in my faith has helped me get where I thought I’d never be and finally seeing a light out of where I am to financial freedom. It has been a blessing to quit my part-time job at American International Group and Houston Community College to focus on my passion fully.
Haas Productions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Haas Productions, LLC, from momentarily to memorable. I don’t have anything of me from high school except the cheesy yearbook pictures. After realizing I don’t have anything for me or future family to look back to, I made it a mission to not only capture what I’m doing but do the absolute best for my client so when they look back at what Haas Productions, LLC produced, a smile will cast upon their face. Our team is freshly out of high school or finishing up college. We produce music, graphic design, photograph and film what is requested by the client. Since I’ve been planted at Lakewood Church, our team and content is faith-based making our relationship with the client and work special.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I’m proud that I’m still doing this and I haven’t looked back yet. I’m grateful from where I started, where I am and where I will soon go. I hope to soon bring along more people to help them achieve what they love artistically and the client’s happiness.
