Meet Cindy Conti of My Modern Quince

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Conti.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Cindy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
While obtaining my MBA in Business Development, I was tasked with creating a business plan to solve a problem. While I was working towards my degree, I was also planning my daughters Quinceanera. As I began planning her celebration I looked to the Hispanic communities and stores to find the items I needed. Being a Latina myself, I looked to keep tradition in her Quinceanera but wanted to add a modernized touch. That is when I realized there was a lack of visibility and marketing for many Quinceanera Vendors. Companies and individuals who are very talented but are limited to only a small area of customers. I created my business plan for my MBA around this need and found an opportunity in real life to change that. My Modern Quince was created to increase resources for people planning Quinceaneras as well as vendors wanting to grow their business.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Starting an online business has its complexities and there is so much to learn. Every time I feel like there is something I have figured out on building my website a new obstacle comes up. However, every time I do figure it out and get through it, it makes me feel accomplished!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the My Modern Quince story. Tell us more about the business.
My Modern Quince is a marketplace connecting moms and young girls planning their Quinceanera with local vendors. It was designed with the party planning process in mind, making it easier for moms and young girls during each stage of their party planning. My Modern Quince also allows vendors to market themselves to a much larger market found online. We also continuously post blogs about Quinceanera trends, Quince inspiration, and DIY’s. What sets us apart from other Quinceanera websites is that we take a modern approach to Quinceaneras while also keeping tradition alive.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
My hope for the next five years is that the website will grow to cover other major cities in the US. I don’t foresee the Quinceanera tradition ever going away so we plan to stick around for a very long time.
