Meet Marcos Paz from 249

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcos Paz from 249.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always had a camera growing up but, it wasn’t until 2013 in 10th grade at Ike when I started to take it serious. I almost went to Prairie View to stay in drumline but, I made a choice to pursue photography 100%. I started classes at The Art Institute of Houston for digital photography to learn everything about the camera. I actually just finished my last couple of classes. In 2017, I created a streetwear brand called “Local 2 Global” where I create all visual content and designs. I really didn’t know what L2G was at first but, I knew I could make it bigger than myself and take it “Local 2 Global”. I’m actually working on the newest released video right now. About a year and half ago, I moved into the music scene to photograph artists on and off the stage when I realized how to include my love of music with my career.

Has it been a smooth road?
It was tough finding my own photography path even when I was in school. There was a point where I didn’t have inspiration to photograph because of how lost I was. I made Local 2 Global before I figured out which route I wanted to go. All the time I spent on the brand made me realize how much I really love the camera. Once I decided to specialize in music things began to slowly fall in place one by one.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with World Paz Photography / Local 2 Global – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
World Paz Photography specializes in music on and off stage, from studio sessions to backstage. Local 2 Global is the mindset behind it all. Starting in 24GR9ND (Two Forty Grind), with potential to spread all over the world. What makes me stand out in my mind is my authenticity, I’ll give you that real sh*t. So far, I’m most proud of the pictures I have of Texas rap legends that my friends and I grew up listening to. Getting photos of Snoop was also crazy for me. I’m also proud of E.S.G. wearing a couple of my shirts.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The slab and music culture is my favorite part of Houston because of how much history there is and how it’s still growing. I hate that there hasn’t been a Grand Theft Auto based on Houston yet.
