Meet Bobby Bryant of DOSS in Midtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobby Bryant.

Bobby, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It was 2011, an evening when I was watching Jeopardy. But this wasn’t any evening or just any episode! This particular evening, IBM and their supercomputer WATSON was playing the two (2) winning’est players in Jeopardy history. IBM WATSON is an Intelligent Assistant that can learn questions and verbally respond accurately with the answers. That blew my mind! A few months later, APPLE introduced the world to SIRI, another Voice Activated Intelligent Assistant. However, this one was developed into an iPhone. I don’t know about everybody else, but my first experience with SIRI was amazing! The first thing that came to my mind was, “What if we could do this for the real estate industry? What if I could integrate every real estate data source that exists into a Voice-Activated Intelligent Assistant to accurately, easily, and instantly answer any question about any property in the world 24/7?” My mind was spinning! So, I became obsessed with this technology and relentlessly found and read just about everything on the topic. At that time, my real estate experience (Owner of a Mortgage, Real Estate, and Title) was just short of ten (10) years. However, at this time, this technology was relatively new.

Fast speed forward to 2013, I was on a First-Class flight to Houston. The guy sitting next to me just so happens to work for IBM Watson, but lives in Houston. We had an exchange of “What do you do?” as everything concluded with him telling me to apply on the IBM website and to tell them my use-case for WATSON. He said “IBM is looking for use-cases that use BIG DATA. Real Estate will be a perfect industry for this kind of technology!” As soon as we landed and I got home, I opened the IBM website and applied. IBM didn’t respond until 2015(two years later), but it was one of the best 30-minute calls in my life. The moment I hung up, I jumped up from my office desk and ran up and down the street in Midtown Houston screaming like a little girl in excitement. IBM wanted to move forward with my idea(use-case).

Today, I am the CEO of DOSS, a proptech(real estate technology) company that’s democratizing the real estate industry via a Fair-Priced Digital Real Estate Brokerage that’s developing a Voice-Activated Intelligent Assistant built into a proprietary real estate search and transactional platform that empowers BUYERS, RENTERS, and SELLERS to ask any question about any property in the world to get accurate, easy, and instant answers 24/7. Architecturally built on an Intelligent-Interface, consumers are able to access everything there is to know about a particular property by speaking, texting, or typing their questions into any Desktop, Smartphone, and Smart-Speaker to search, schedule property tours, digitally submit offers, negotiate price, transact a property, and much more. Our MISSION is to leverage the best technology to make homeownership in America more affordable.

I’m also currently a FORBES Contributor. I give my Expert opinion, backed by research and statistical data, on various real estate topics. I use automation to solve systematic and workflow problems. I am the authority and pioneer of Intelligent Voice-Activated Assistants for the real estate industry. With extensive real estate experience about the future of all things residential real estate, I’m often summoned to be a panel expert and/or speaker throughout the country to share my expertise and insights about Intelligent Assistants, the Future of Home-Search, the Future of Online Real Estate Transactions, Real Estate Automation, Real Estate Disruption, the Future of Real Estate Agents/Brokers, and much more. Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The process came with many peaks and valleys! I was building something, a business, a technology for the real estate industry that’s never been done before. There is no playbook, best guide, or procedures for something nobody has ever created for real estate. The technology was new, it had limitations, and data was very expensive. In addition, it was hard finding qualified people that were skilled to build an Intelligent Assistant. If you had the skill set, more than likely you were already working for APPLE, AMAZON, GOOGLE, IBM WATSON, or some startup solving a particular problem via Natural Language Processing (NLP) or Natural Language Understanding (NLU). And, if you found someone that had the experience or skill set, can you afford them or do they believe in your idea enough to take sweat equity in your company? Lastly, money! This is a very expensive undertaking. So, we had to raise capital. Unlike most startups, we were lucky to raise enough in our Family and Friend Round to build a BETA product. However, the journey came with many pitfalls… Thankfully I have a resilient and smart team that’s equally obsessed with solving the set of problems we collectively believe DOSS can solve. That obsession was the fuel that pushed us through the peaks and valleys of our journey. If you don’t have grit, focus, and a burning desire to succeed, you will quit!

Please tell us about the business.
DOSS is a real estate technology company. We wanted to create a company that builds the best real estate tech to make homeownership in America more affordable. A technological marketplace that will radically evolve the way people search and transact property. We wanted to create something for consumers. A consumer-centric real estate portal that gives buyers, renters, and sellers more control of their real estate transaction. We wanted to develop a technology that automates, streamlines, and increases transparency for buyers, renters, and sellers. A platform that gives the consumer options to choose the type of service they need and want instead of dictating a one-size-fits-all model like the current real estate industry. At DOSS, we are able to provide options to empower people to Do-It-Yourself and save a lot of money or receive FULL SERVICE, at a fair price. Either way, our objective is to offer and provide consumer services that’s BETTER. FASTER. SMARTER. than our competitors.

Lastly, other than a few small awesome acquisitions we are currently making, I’m really excited about our plans in the near future to become a Nationally Recognized Franchise Brand. Unlike any real estate technology company before us, DOSS is seeking to give consumers everywhere the best real estate search and transactional experience they’ve ever had. In addition to that, progressive Agents and Brokers around the world no longer have to stand on the sidelines and watch some well-funded real estate tech startup take their market share. Very soon, industry practitioners around the globe will have an opportunity to purchase an innovative real estate franchise that’s sure to become one of the real estate industry’s new success stories.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
ABILITY, CAPACITY, and DESIRE! These are intangible qualities I look for in people. This is what I believe is most important to succeed! WHY? Because nobody can give you these things, you can’t even give them to your kids. Do you have the ABILITY or stamina to do what you are seeking to accomplish? Do you have the CAPACITY to solve the problems that present themselves? Do you have the burning DESIRE it takes to win? These are innate characteristics that one must have or develop to become and remain successful!
