Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsi Oestreich.
Chelsi, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been in the beauty industry for over 20 years. Specializing in Marketing and Product Development. I started my career at Laura Mercier Cosmetics when the brand was just coming to life and it was here that I fell in love with working for entrepreneurial brands. After rising to the VP level, I wanted to find another young brand to help build, which I did with Sunday Riley and then again with Cover FX, each time building positioning stories, strong product lines and marketing campaigns to catapult the brands to success. I then turned to consulting, working for brands like FARSALI, By Terry, and Eighteen B, advising CEOs in all aspects from corporate structure, marketing, product and ecommerce.
When my friend, Fanny Coste, reached out to say she had an idea for a personal care brand that was going to be microbiome focused, effective, safe and clean, I knew I had to help this brand come to life. After my best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer and sitting in chemo treatments with her, I realized the effect that personal care products have on our bodies and someone needed to lead the charge to make safe, yet effective, products for everyone. Today, I am proud to be co-founder of that brand, Kinkō. I live in Sugar Land, TX with my husband, two daughters and two dogs, and enjoy dancing, watching Texas A&M football and spending time outdoors.
Has it been a smooth road?
Absolutely not! You have to remember that I started my career before brands had websites, before social media, and before the rise of the influencer. Marketing used to be all about PR and advertising but it shifted overnight to partnering with people who had large followings and sometimes it worked, a lot of times it didn’t. It was a long learning curve to learn how to do it right.
