Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa White.
Lisa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began this journey 18 1/2 years ago. I started as a part – time agent and worked as a part – time agent for three years. I was put in a situation that allowed me to begin to work my real estate business on a full – time basis. 2004 was the year that I began to work in the industry full -time. As I reflect on my journey, it was not an easy journey however I believed in my heart that this is what I was supposed to be doing. I have always had a strong passion and a deep desire to help people in one capacity or another
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This journey has not been an easy one. The first of many struggles that I encountered in starting my real estate business was accepting the fact that friends and family were not necessarily as excited about me starting a business as I was and consequently did not support me. In the beginning, I did not understand the significance of having a plan with your money once you closed transactions. What I mean by that is understanding the importance of investing back into your business. If you never put money back into your business, then how do you expect your business to grow. From every transaction that I close 10% is the tithe, 20% goes into my business, 20% is put away for taxes and 10% goes to savings.
Please tell us about GBR Realty.
The name of my company is GBR Realty. I co-own this company with my husband Kevin White. Together we have a total of 37 years of experience in real estate sales and real estate investing. This company has been in existence since 2008. As a company we specialize in residential and commercial real estate sales transactions. Our daily mission is to provide a service that is unparalleled and that cannot be compared to any other experience. We strive to always put our client’s needs first by providing accurate information and intelligent options to empower them in reaching their homeownership goals. We look to create life long relationships based on mutual loyalty and respect of our client’s best interests and objectives. If I had to say what we are most known for it is our market knowledge as it relates to Houston and the surrounding areas along with the unparalleled customer service that we provide. As a company, we are most proud of the fact that we are able to change lives daily by educating and imparting wisdom into many as it relates to home ownership.
I am also a co-host for a real estate podcast titled Red Door Conversations. The primary focus of the podcast is to not only provide you with relevant and cutting edge information as it relates to the real estate industry, but to also be relatable which will allow our viewers to connect with us and who we are as women and mothers.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would have not started as an individual agent. I would have planted with a large team and soaked up as much knowledge, wisdom and understanding about the industry before tackling it on my own. This can be a cruel and harsh industry if you are not properly equipped for the peaks and valleys that are a part of the journey.
