Djuan and Dowayne, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The Mouton family business started with Joseph Mouton’s handyman services over 50 years ago. Through the years, he taught his son Dowayne Mouton the trades of his business. Dowayne took these trades he learned from his father and opened a maintenance service. He started providing handyman services and buffing floors for local residents and businesses. He extended his business into construction and began to travel to surrounding cities providing his services. During these times, he would bring his son Djuan Mouton along, teaching him the trades of construction and business management. Djuan pursued the knowledge for construction, gaining a degree in business management and other construction-related certifications. With this versatility and years of experience, Dowayne and Djuan Mouton partnered to open All In One Building Maintenance & Construction LLC. With hard work, drive, and dedication, we developed a company with the reputation for quality, customer focus, and integrity. We have taken our families people first ethics, and detailed business practices to evolve and thrive within today’s market.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. One of our several struggles along the way is being minority-owned. With this comes challenges within itself. We encounter stereotyping often, but we don’t allow obstacles to waver our faith. We overcome this day to day by proving to be reputable through our certifications, five-star rating with BBB, and customer satisfaction. Another struggle was building commercial clientele, which improved through knowledge, experiences, and learning along the way.
Please tell us about All In One Building Maintenance & Construction.
All In One Building Maintenance & Construction LLC is a residential and commercial construction company that has been operating over 20 years. We specialize in new construction, remodels, and disaster relief. We handle all aspects of construction from foundations to complete residents and buildings. Services offered include but not limited to new construction, cabinetry, drywall, painting, carpentry, flooring, roofing, framework, foundations, interior design and disaster restoration.
We are most proud of our impact on the community through our annual back to school drives, multifamily affordable living and redevelopment. We believe being certified as Minority-Owned Business Enterprise (MBE) and Small Business Enterprise (SBE) through the City of Houston and being rated a five-star company through the Better Business Bureau is what sets us apart. We also hold a Texas Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Certification. We are customer satisfaction focused, dedicated to meeting all our client’s needs. We strive to make our client’s vision become reality through detailed planning and comprehensive strategies. We see our staff and customers as family.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If we had to start over, we would develop financials to manage by the numbers right off. We understand the quality of staff affects the quality of service, so we would identify the skills needed, hire staff and provide training and development. Lastly, implement systems for the company to run systematically and consistently.
