Meet Desmond Miller of Lux Financial Lending in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Desmond Miller.

Desmond, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started out at Uofh main campus for general studies after graduating from Willowridge High School. My problem was that I never wanted to really attend college and always challenged the thought that I had to have a degree to be successful in life. From that point in life, I end up leaving Uofh to pursue a career as a Firefighter Paramedic for the Houston Fire Department. While working for the department, I worked several jobs even so much as working 70 plus hours a week with all my jobs combined, all while still trying to find myself and what path to take into being successful as an entrepreneur.

The hassles of working for a company that did not care whether you lived or died took a toll on me and I just knew that if I was ever to make it in life where I wanted to go, then I would have to bet on myself and make a move. After a few years of reading books and studying, I found myself and realized that Real Estate was an area that I could succeed in. I worked for a good company as a Loan Originator and the opportunity presented itself for me to actually own a new up and coming company. I jumped in without hast and have been loving every minute of it sense. I look forward to not only providing the great state of Texas the opportunity of purchase/refinancing homes but also giving young brothers and sisters opportunities to work together and make our own path to financial freedom.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been smooth, jumping from one career to entrepreneurship has been tough. Initial dealings with shady partners and just the learning curve and cutthroats of business has been an adjustment.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Lux Financial Lending story. Tell us more about the business.
I am Mortgage Broker, I assist Texas residents with obtaining home loans and also with refinancing in order to save them money and headaches. I am super proud of the standard of communication my company has set up and will continue to deliver.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I don’t foresee any big shifts in my industry in the coming years, luckily real estate is very stable.
