Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordyn Lorenz.
Jordyn, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Looking at where I am now, I realize that I have been preparing my entire life for what I do now. While the business of J. Lorenz & Co. and the Seize Your Purpose NOW! Movement is fairly new. I began my process of getting ready for this work when I was a little girl.
What do I mean by that? Well, I’ve always challenged the norm. I have always believed that we were created for something bigger than what we see. I have always pushed and prodded people to go beyond where they are. Seriously, I’ve done this since I was a child; just ask my mother. 😉
Someone once told me that life experience is the best trainer, and for my business as a Purpose Coach, that wisdom was spot-on. It has been my lived experience, in all of its mountaintop highs and gut-wrenching lows that has gotten me to where I am. Now, we all have these experiences, but all of us do not step into work where we display those experiences for the world to see and use them for the healing and advancement of others. I have, This is my work, and I choose it daily.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road at all. Becoming a Purpose Coach meant that I first had to live what I was going to teach. I had to first go through the things that I would later champion women through in their own lives. That meant many challenges, great obstacles, and super-sized adversity!
I suffered mental and emotional abuse as a child. I struggled through severe depression as a teen. I had a suicide attempt at 16. There was an abortion at 18. I lived a pretty reckless life as a result of my deep sadness and lack of self-love. Later there was an unexpected pregnancy that came with a rare life/death condition, followed by severe postpartum depression with psychosis and a baby with ongoing medical challenges. In that time, I lost everything, and I do mean everything, and as a result, I plummeted to welfare and community-based services as I fought for years to rebuild my life. So struggles, yes, there were struggles indeed.
I look back at my struggles now and I think, in comparison to some of the struggles I hear about others experiencing, mine weren’t bad at all. It was all small stuff! When I compare it, yes, but when I lived it, it almost killed me, time over time, it delivered devastating blows that seemed impossible to overcome. Yet, I did overcome… somehow.
Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about you and your career so far?
J. Lorenz & Co. is my parent company. It is the umbrella under which I’ve built my entrepreneurial playground. I am known for inspiring and motivating others to discover their purpose, to live their dreams, and to become the grandest version of themselves. I do this through what I call my movement, “Seize Your Purpose NOW!” (SYPN). I have written a book by the same title. The book is a passionate work that introduces the seven stages of purpose, seen through the lens of my experience. It defines and describes the seven stages and then I share the relevant parts of my life experience in order to show what the stages look like at play.
My passion project is the Seize Your Purpose NOW! Mastermind groups that I host for women. Each Mastermind group comprises ten women who have decided that enough is enough of living passionless, purposeless lives. It is an inspired and ignited environment where women who have spent their entire lives giving to, building, and nurturing the dreams of others finally get to turn their superpowers back onto themselves, their purposes and their dreams. It is a sacred space where we explore the book (Seize Your Purpose NOW!) chapter by chapter while delving into the SYPN Workbook and engaging in daily writing in the SYPN Journal. The women learn what it means to be on purpose, identify the things that have kept them off purpose, find the stage of purpose they are in, and develop practical and feasible plans to propel themselves forward into more purposed and passionate living.
Through this program, women do some really deep and introspective work, work that is challenging but oh-so-rewarding. It is not easy yet, time after time, I see first-hand women give up excuses, unworthiness, and dissatisfaction as they strain their way to purposed living. It is the most fulfilling work I have ever done, and work of which I am the most proud.
What sets me apart from others is that I walk with women in one of the most sacred spaces of their lives. I open up a space for honesty and authenticity. I sit with them in their fears. I catch their tears. I validate their feelings and positions. BUT… then I respectfully and gently (yet relentlessly) partner with them to break through barriers that are keeping them from the life God intends for them to live. I believe what also sets me apart is my willingness to be transparent. I believe that God created me to use my experience as a way to lift others up, to guide them to their purpose, to set the example that no matter what comes our way, we can be triumphant.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career happens time after time. It is the moment when a woman lets me know that the work we did together changed their lives. Can I share some examples? I recently wrapped up a 7-week Mastermind with a group of ten women and here are just a few excerpts from their testimonials on the experience:
#sypn offered me a safe, friendly and understanding environment to share my wins, fears, gains struggles and let downs. It’s hard to put into words what these seven weeks have done. I imagine if I ever went to group therapy, then this is what it looks like. Jordyn, I appreciate your knowledge, encouragement and transparency throughout the process.
The #sypn experience gave me a safe platform that allowed me to believe that I can realize and live my wildest dreams. New normals were created to help drive my daily behavior towards accomplishing my life goals. It definitely helped me pour into myself just as much as I had poured into everyone else in my life and their needs. Inner fear was made to take a backseat and instead of asking Why? I now ask why not? It pushed my limits and caused my focus to shift, so now all I see is possibilities. These seven weeks were life-changing for me and I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to fellowship and dream with beautiful, strong women, as we set our stages to succeed and help others do the same. Thank you, Jordyn Lorenz.
The SYPN was a breath of fresh air for me. Not only was it a “get my stuff together” wake up call, but it was also a sacred place to bond with beautiful like-minded women. It was simply amazing how Jordyn pulled everything together for us with simple daily activities that validated our need to find our true purpose. Our sessions were all about the US and it felt great to have our goals and desires put front and center.
This makes me proud!!! To know that I played a part in helping another woman find purpose and a path forward into that purpose. What more could I ask for!?
