Meet Tanesia Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanesia Jones.

Tanesia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m originally from Crystal Springs, MS. A country town; then I turn to the big lights, Houston, TX for 12 years. Houston is my second home, which I grew to love and represent as well. Currently I’m in Dallas/Forth Worth, TX. The growth of my music started in Houston since 2012. From my very first radio appearance on street93.3 of Ms. fiyamediamogul station in 2012 to growing into performing showcases, one after another through the years.

To being on stage with the RadioBoss Hardbodykiotti of the hottest radio station of Houston, 97.9 the box in 2018. I started my very first EP in Houston and now working on my 3rd. I started singing at church since I was a little girl Crystal Springs, MS. That’s where it all started. From the sunshine choir (kids), Mass Choir, to the small singing group. Which we call ourselves the Jones sisters. I was always the one leading and singing high notes ready to get in front of a crowd and sing.

As a child, my mom uses to always yell, “Shut up, Lucy, with all that racket/noise!!” because I use to always take to long in the shower singing my heart out. It’s funny to me now because, through my journey of pursuing my career, instead of yelling, she’s pushing me. Encouraging me to keep at it. Which I’m grateful. I love singing to the point it took over my life from the very beginning. Started entering talent shows even tried out for many competitions like “The Voice.” When life takes IT’S course, I write it out, sing it out. When life gives unexpected trials and tribulations, I write it out and sing it out.

Music is my passion and my one and only baby. It’s my truth. Its comforting, lifting, encouraging, loving, all the above. Houston have shown me a lot. It structures me of being who I am today. Towards my music, it made it better as of when I first created my craft, of my first EP, “NesiaSweet Jones.” My experiences and just me, in general, has grown.

Starting from the church, I fell in love with the rise of knowing how the melody and the flow of lyrics can come out and take control on a whole different level. I love music in general that makes you cry, laugh, and make you think about “now.” Real music. I grew up on and still stuck on 90,s RNB and some good old school music from 60s-80s. I feel like I’m stuck on that era to the point me writing to my music. I have to give that same feeling, that vibe to people. My old-time favorite is Betty Wright. “Tonight is the night,” “After the Pain.” I most definitely have these two tracks on repeat on a daily basis.

My all-time favorite artist is Whitney Houston. She did it all and I loved it and idolized her for her work that she bless this world with. I always wanted to do music with her. R.I.P to the loving Legend. More of my favorites and would love to do music with is Monica & Fantasia. All three of these Queens I grew and learned within their music.

When I write, I write within the moment. When it comes to the melody of the track, I have to feel the beat and become it. Meaning when I hear a clean track, the vibe to it, if the track is automatic of what I like, Lyrics starts to flow in like water. I waste no time in the studio. The excitement be real & I love it! It’s like a natural high of releasing every emotion in on a track that’s real and not false tales. My style is write things that are real. That real people have been or going through. Real experiences. With that, the audience will love it more.

Everything is temporary in life till you do what you really love. Determination and this strong strive I have for my music, I won’t let go. The best is yet to come. My latest Ep is on all global music stations as well as YouTube. Tanesia “oh.” Now I’m working on my next EP “Breaking the Silence.” It’s filled with truth and new life experiences that I have conquered. The excitement is real. You will see more live performances real soon this year. Until then, stay tuned for “Breaking The Silence.”

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Life has taken its course of finding a way to knock you off your feet, Get you to the point that makes you lose focus on what you really living for. I have been physical and emotionally abuse throughout my journey. It’s been Rough but I got through it and still making things happen with the Grace of God. From the abusement from toxic relationships to fighting for my life against Houston Police Department. Knowing this life we live in is a game of survival to just keep your keep above water at any means necessary. It has been discouraging at times, BUT my music is my Escape.

No one cant take that away from me. Many people from the very beginning, starting with the man that has the title: my daddy, has started to plant a seed of stating that I will never be nothing. Being raised from a single parent, my mom, we all went through rough patches but that never stop us to get to where we are now, I seen and learned a lot from her. Strength and ambition of there is no room for failure. and not letting others to take that torch away from me no matter how dark the road will become. Everything that I been through I eat it up. Meaning metaphorically: it fuels my spirit. To prove people wrong. I see nothing less but greatness for my self. Which these obstacles that I conquered only made and STILL MAKING me stronger as a BLACK Woman.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m an artist, singer, songwriter. My music are real experience of life. What sets me different from any other is my soul and spirit. When I write, I don’t write on wishes, or could have. I don’t write on things that make-believe or made up in sort senses; growing up, I’ve listened to old school music and blues. Which makes you feel really good in all types of vibes. 90’s soul and RNB music is all-time favorites. I’m stuck in theses era’s to the point people always tell me I have an old soul. and I LOVE IT! It’s ME. If the music doesn’t make you feel good, it’s not real music to me.

Throughout the years, I have grown and accomplished more within my music of being independent. My writing has grew more stronger, and my music itself has developed more from then to now. and it has everything to do with real-life experiences I been through. Real and Raw with a hint of Soul and RNB, I’m excited of what’s next and lined up for touring and performances this year.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t start over. I wouldn’t be me if I did choose to start over. I’m proud of who and what I am today. A strong Black Woman. Your past and life experiences is what creates you. The good and the bad. It has been times of my heart will fill with hatred because of hard life experiences. but looking back to it, it only molds me to be better and stronger. “It only fuels me up.” It changes me on how I see and do things in life and it’s only for the better, and for that, I’m READY FOR THE NEXT OBSTACLE THAT COMES MY WAY.
