Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Hackley.
Mike, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am the founder of BBQGuys, the online leader in outdoor living that has been helping people host BBQs since 1998. I’m an Air Force veteran, inventor and serial entrepreneur who grew up in Sulfer, Louisiana. My interest in grills and outdoor kitchens took root while I was serving in aircraft maintenance at Barksdale Airforce Base.
Has it been a smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges we faced starting BBQGuys was choosing to grow the company without the help of banks or investors. We’ve prioritized flexibility and the ability to learn – which has been especially important in an industry (e-commerce) that was just budding when we opened our doors in 1998. It also made it even more important that we hired individuals who helped reinforce our values as we grew exponentially.
