Today we’d like to introduce you to Odell Hamilton.
Odell, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have introduced to craft beer about 3 or 4 years ago. From there, I started going to all the local breweries, trying all the different beer styles. Over time, my palate changed and my knowledge of craft beer progressed. I soon began to realize I was usually the only minority patron in these breweries’ taprooms during these visits – so my question became why? Where were the people who looked like me? Now, I have begun to answer this question through research, events, and brewery visits. I am now able to focus on making things better for the overall craft beer community.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The climate of things have changed since we last spoke. COVID 19 and the unfortunate murder of George Floyd have played a huge part in what we have been focusing on these last few months.
Brew Bros – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Brew Bros is a Houston based company that produces and hosts craft beer events. We’re pushing and advocating for diversity and inclusion within all aspects of craft beer.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The positive responses from those who attend our events. For example, this morning, I received a message that said, “The group was so welcoming, which I appreciated. Not all craft beer people have been like that to me.”
Those are the type of interactions/event responses we are trying to curate.
