Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Edwards.
Kim, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Well, it all started with my son’s birthday party. I wanted to have lots of nice balloon decor for his party but I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on the decorations. I decided that I would attempt to create some balloon decor items myself in an effort to save money. The event turned out nicely and after that many others started asking me to do their child’s birthday balloons and decorations. After doing this many times for little to no payments, someone advised me that I should do it as side job.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been smooth as far as starting off and creating balloon decor. I have invested a lot capital in training. I have traveled all over the us to learn from many of the nation’s top certified balloon artist. The hardest challenge for me has been getting clients, advertising, promoting, and stepping out of my comfort zone to network.

My business is Kustom Balloon Kreations. I specialize in creative balloon decorations such as organic garlands, columns, sculptures, backdrops, and much more. I am so proud to be able to bring smiles to my client’s faces, to bring joy to many people’s lives, especially in this time that we are in right now. I have to say that I strive to make everyone happy when they choose me to help make their event more special. Sometimes I go well above what I am hired to do to ensure that they very satisfied with my work! I am a school counselor and a balloon decorator. I absolutely love both of them. I have a passion for helping our youth deal with their everyday challenges and struggles. I have a true passion to help kids and bring smiles to faces. I am overjoyed to do the two best jobs in the world.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I will never forget the first time my stepdad took me fishing and I caught my first fish! My heart jumped out of my chest!
