Meet Christopher McKinley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher McKinley.

Christopher, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In 2014, I gave my mom an amazing 50th birthday party. Her expression was everything. Well, I heard it was everything. My dad brought her earlier than I expected and I missed her reaction. I knew from that moment on that I wanted to create moments like that for the rest of my life.

In 2015, I launched what was then Chris McKinley Consultants and Events. Yea, I know. It’s an extremely long name. Later in 2017, I changed the name to Chris McKinley Event Design and the magic began to flow. I focused in on being a luxury brand. I also adopted the slogan “Celebrate Luxuriously.” Since then CMED has been helping clients all across the southeast region of the U.S. “Celebrate Luxuriously.”

Has it been a smooth road?
The road has not been easy. I was extremely green going into this industry. Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do. Like most industries you have to learn the in’s and the outs. I was fortunate to have mentorship along the way. I’ve always believed in creating relationships and learning from those who we perceive to do it best. I learned that sometimes it’s best to have that confidence in yourself as well. Whether I learned WHAT TO DO or NOT TO DO, it was all a valuable learning experience for me.

Chris McKinley Event Design – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Chris McKinley Event Design is a Luxury Event Planning and Design Firm. We specialize in weddings, but we plan and design all kinds of events for our clients. I am most proud of my amazing team. I am truly one to acknowledge those who make it happen. I am the face but my team is the heart. The relationship that we build with the client is what sets us apart.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The event industry will be so fly and modern in the next 5-10 years. I believe that a lot of the old traditional things about weddings will be a thing of the past. Intimate weddings will become way more popular. Covid-19 has already begun to shape the eloping scene.
