Meet James and Susan Wei of Safina Technologies in Southwest

Today we’d like to introduce you to James and Susan Wei.

James and Susan, please share your story with us.
Safina Technologies is the IT consulting division of our company. After 30 years in the office products industry, we had to step back and ask ourselves how we could expand our business. James (CEO) comes from an IT background having worked as a Senior Systems Engineer so we thought to ourselves how else can we use his expertise. It dawned on us that being a small business ourselves, we constantly needed help with our IT, but couldn’t afford to hire our own staff nor could we afford any of the tech companies out there. Why not provide affordable IT support to the small and medium business? Six months later, in 2014, we opened Safina Technologies. We pride ourselves on providing friendly, reliable, and honest service. What does that mean? We don’t sell you what you don’t need. We answer calls directly (a lot of companies use answering services first); an engineer will be your first point of contact when an issue occurs. And of course, we care about your business so we will always treat your issues as if they are our own issues. Small businesses need to stick together! Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It certainly has not been a smooth road. Hiring the right people is always an issue, but we have got a great team now. It’s also tough to get businesses to see the value in our work and to get them to trust us.

Safina Technologies – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We provide Managed IT Services, Storage and Backup Solutions, Cabling, Network Security, Disaster Recovery Options, and IP Camera and Surveillance solutions. Our specialty lies in Managed IT Services, Storage and Backup Solutions, and Network Security. What makes our company different, apart from the fact that we treat each other and treat our customers like family, is that we are able to provide solutions that fit your needs. We treat each case differently, we meet with you, discuss your needs, analyze your environment, and then present a solution.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is when our customers are pleased with our performance. Success is when we’ve made a difference. Success is when our customers say to themselves “it’s a good thing we have Safina to back us up!”
