Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Gonzalez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Cassandra. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been struggling to write this for months now. If I’m honest, it’s because I’m still trying to figure out my story. So here’s my story the best way I know how to tell it. I am a Mexican American with parents who first came to the states in their childhood. In College, I studied marketing and sales with the intent of working for a big tech company, you know, Tesla, Apple, Amazon, etc. In my Senior year, I started working full time with Tesla. Although I love the company and believe everything they stand for, I quickly learned corporate wasn’t for me. I started exploring other options and I found Real Estate. I found an amazing team whose values lined perfectly with mine and who have also made my personal growth a priority. Now I’m the first Spanish Speaking Buyers Agent on our team! 2020 is my first year producing as a buyers agent and I am on pace to close the year with helping over 35 families find and purchase their dream home! Aside from my main career, I have a passion for writing, yoga, meditation and holistic medicine. One day you’ll get to read a published novel written by yours truly! Just don’t ask me when or what, I’m still working on that!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Haha! Is there ever a clear path in life? I have an amazing support system in my family and friends so luckily, I never felt like I had to deal with things alone. I did work and go to school full time which was extremely difficult but I always had a roof over my head and food in my stomach so I just focused on the end goal. Most of my struggles have been mental. For a long time, I struggled with imposter syndrome. If you don’t know, Imposter Syndrome is constantly feeling like a fraud. Feeling like you don’t belong or like you’re going to get exposed. For what? Who knows because I’ve never hid anything! I’d constantly feel like I didn’t deserve to be where I was or that my success was flawed or happened out of sheer luck. It’s not something I have completely healed from, but now when I get thoughts like that, I just remind myself of the days I prayed to be where I am now and that it’s not luck or a coincidence. Imposter Syndrome is incredibly high in ethnic women. For anyone reading this that feels this way, you’re not alone and you are not a fraud!
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a Realtor with The Loken Group! Specifically, I am a Spanish speaking buyer specialist! I live by Lake Conroe so I focus a majority of my business in North Houston, anything North of I10. However, I have helped clients purchase in Manvel, The Medical Center, Fulshear, etc. What sets me apart is my incredible team! Unlike hiring an individual agent, when you hire me, you are hiring a whole crew to work on your behalf! I take pride in my work and I fell in love with this career because it gives me the ability to help our community with one of the life’s largest decisions. Aside from that, I am working on a book. As of now it’s a collection of short stories and poems. I’m excited to see what it will turn into!
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Shortly after my parents got divorced, my dad worked as a sales counselor for a new construction community in McAllen TX. My parents had alternating weekends and sometimes he would have to work when my brother and I were with him. He would take us to work and we would hang out in the model homes. The model homes always has the best decorated kids and game rooms! I would read and write a lot! I used to think his job was so cool, he got to help families every day! When I think about the psychology of it, it makes sense that I love being a Realtor!
