Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Joseph.
Candace, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The Business Knowledge Broker Hour is a weekly radio show geared to showcase entrepreneurs, organizations, local happenings, and give business strategies. The radio show is produced weekly by myself and my brother, Gregory Joseph. It was established through a December 2019 interview with Anthony Frazier and his co-host Aisha on KCOH Radio, during an entrepreneur’s spotlight. I am the owner of The Joseph Consulting Firm, LLC. They loved the interview and the segment got a lot of positive feedback, and people wanted to know when it was coming back. When Anthony decided to create his own radio station, he approached me about having my own show, and the rest is history. My team are known as the knowledge Brokers, so I named my show in honor of my team members.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Radio was a new medium for me. I had to learn to be a producer, engineer, dis jockey, and make sure my personality shined through the microphone. It was not a smooth ride but it is rewarding. I was mentored by my team member, Corey Byrd and Gregory Joseph. The owner of High-Volume Music Radio, Anthony Frazier, taught lessons as well. They assisted in teaching sound, transitions, and how to remember to turn off the mic at the end of the show (lol). Then, I had to find listeners. I developed a strategy that has grown to listeners tremendously. We have listeners from all over the world, here in Houston, as well as the UK, Brazil, Canada, Australia, and Jamaica. We are not just local; we are GLOBAL.
Business Knowledge Broker Hour with Candace Joseph – Joseph Consulting Firm – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
The Business Knowledge Broker Hour with Candace Joseph has become an extension of The Joseph Consulting Firm, LLC. The Joseph Consulting Firm was established to assist the everyday entrepreneur in business planning from idea to launch to growth. Our goal is to provide customized plans based on your business’s size and growth plan. We educate while creating systems. it is the only way to true greatness. I use the radio show as a part of the firm’s community service. We want to shine light on the hidden gems in business. A company can only show greatness if they are visible for others to find them. Most new business owners do not have the financial resources to get their service or products in front of various audiences. I give them this space to simply be awesome. It does not matter where a guest’s business is located, I want them to be a guest. What sets our show apart from others is simple, it’s free. The current push of small business revitalization is the reason it’s free. I wanted to give a voice and opportunity to companies that are often over looked.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood was a holiday talent show followed by the family football game. All the grandchildren would produce skits to perform. I was always the business lady with my dad’s briefcase. Yeah. I’m horrible at sports. My family is filled with singers, actors, visual artist, and so much more. I was given the gift of business acumen. One day I may try singing.
