Today we’d like to introduce you to David Lee.
David, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I come from humble beginnings. Born and raised on the southside of Houston, TX, it was mostly me and my mother. I grew up a dreamer playing sports, but always with multiple interests and divided attention. I graduated from Angelo State University in 2011 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Athletic Training and worked with athletes in that capacity for a few years before becoming a full-time public educator. I also had begun my officiating basketball career by this time. Fast forward to 2019 and I’m tired of the 9-5 grind and feeling as though I’m underachieving in life because I’m not betting on myself by becoming a full-time entrepreneur so I devised a plan. By faith and working the plan I have been able to become a full-time serial entrepreneur and now live life on the entrepreneur watch.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My journey has been quite difficult. From financial lows and health concerns to a lack of support and even belief. There are many trials that happen in life and business and there have been many times I’ve wanted to quit and have even tried, but something inside just always kept pushing sometimes even pulling me along to another day. It is the gift of not giving up that makes every setback and hardship worth it once you overcome. I encourage anyone who feels like giving up or who might have already checked out to breathe, rest, pray, and walk by faith just more time because there is green pasture and you will find it, if you don’t give up.
G.O.A.T. Mountain – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a real estate professional, a college basketball official, stock market investor, and co-owner of G.O.A.T. Mountain, a lifestyle brand and clothing line that was formed to inspire people to pursue and achieve their greatest divine purpose in every area of life.
Of all that I do I am certainly most proud of G.O.A.T. Mountain because it’s about ministry. We as a society typically associate the term greatest of all time (GOAT) within the worlds of sports and business and that outside of that there is little to less more to be the greatest, but that could not be much more further from the truth. G.O.A.T. Mountain is here to encourage everyone to be the GOAT’s in their everyday lives in every area of their lives by overcoming life’s trials and tribulations through your God led purpose filled life. Being a G.O.A.T. means operating in excellence in every area of your God ordered life.
The significance of this necessity is evident. The country is divided and the world is suffering from a global crisis. This is a time when people need faith and hope. People fail all of the time therefore we need divine assistance. We are inspiring people to God and our operation in excellence both personally and professionally leads us to stand out.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
There are many people who have helped me along the way that all deserve credit for the role they played along the journey. In real estate my greatest mentor happens to also be my broker, Courtney King, whose experience and insight are invaluable. NBA official, Mitchell Ervin, has been a basketball mentor helping me to train and prepare. Along with that I credit being an avid reader as well because the application of knowledge is power.
