Meet Eric Taylor of Pryority Male in Southwest

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Taylor.

Eric, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve been a Registered Nurse for 23 years and for the past 12 years, I’ve had the honor and privilege of caring for patients from all walks of life in my role as a Family Nurse Practitioner. My career path has been a very diverse one, having worked in a variety of clinical settings, including the Skilled Nursing Facility (Nursing Home), State Penitentiary, Job Corps, American Red Cross, Physician’s Office, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and Telehealth. I love my job because everyday, I have the opportunity to live a life of purpose, which is to positively impact the lives of the patients (and their families) that are entrusted in my care as they face the unknown with their health.

Being a former ICU nurse, I’ve seen many patients die way before their time. It’s the many years of seeing my fellow brothers leave this Earthly home due to chronic diseases/conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure), diabetes, and obesity that has sparked this mission in me to create “Pryority Male” – A Men’s Health & Wellness Education page. Through this page, I hope to help men improve their health by bringing awareness to preventable health problems, improve their health literacy, promote health restoration/maintenance, and encourage healthy behaviors that will reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases, thereby promoting a happier, healthier life! I’m a man on a mission and I’m focusing on keeping you active, healthy, and informed throughout all of life phases and transitions.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road because what I’m doing is not very exciting or entertaining, therefore doesn’t capture the attention of those that need to see/hear/read what I’m sharing on my platform. People don’t like to read anymore, they like to be entertained and laugh… My goal is to reach as many men and women as I can and share health information that will motivate, educate, and help them navigate their individual wellness journey. Also, men are notorious for not coming into see the doctor for their routine health maintenance just due to how we are raised in this country. We are quicker to take the truck/car to the shop for the simplest of mechanical concerns than we are to bring our bodies in to see the doctor for the most obvious medical concerns.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Pryority Male – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Pryority Male LLC is “Where men’s health is the priority!” We specialize in men’s healthcare and wellness services. As a company, we are proud of the personal approach that we take to provide each patient with a unique individualized plan of care. The time and energy that we put into each patient encounter is like no other in the industry. We don’t follow the typical medical office practice model, where they see a patient every 15 minutes. Again, we pride ourselves in the time we spend with our patients above all. They become a member of the Pryority Male Family!

Our mission is to provide our patients with the best and most comprehensive medical care possible throughout all phases of life. We strive to build long-term partnerships with our patients that are built on trust and mutual respect. Our practice is focused on health promotion and disease prevention through collaboration with our patients, their families, and our staff. We strive to provide high quality, efficient, and cost-effective care while meeting the needs of our patients during times of health as well as in times of illness. We are committed to ethical clinical practice, providing leadership throughout the community, and providing service for those in our community who are in need. Our staff is recognized for compassion, experience, knowledge and a commitment to excellence.

Our vision is to be the men’s health provider of choice in the community that we serve while delivering the healthcare that we expect for our own family members. We will collaborate and share knowledge with other healthcare professionals to benefit our patients and their families for the advancement of our mission.

Our purpose is to motivate men to live happier, healthier lives by bringing awareness to preventable health problems. We will educate men on the importance of early detection and treatment of preventable health problems while helping them navigate the health and wellness journey throughout all phases of life.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love that Houston is such a diverse city! It’s like a bowl of gumbo. We have any and everyone here! I love diversity because it gives me the opportunity to learn about other cultures and share my lived experiences with my patients on a regular basis. What I don’t like about our city is that when it rains for more than 1 hour, we have flooding and that everything is so spread out. Besides those engineering and geographically challenges, I love the city of Houston.
