Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlton Gougisha Jr and Lisa Prout.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Carlton and Lisa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Our business started with a family meeting discussing the future of our family and generations to come. Mama Dee was my mother’s mother and our grandmother. She was an awesome cook and loved people, so that’s how we came up the name Mamadees_wholelottaflava_.
We are originally from New Orleans so we wanted to bring that authentic New Orleans Flavor to Texas due to having so many inauthentic restaurants claiming the New Orleans flavor palette. We are a small home-based restaurant carry out only but we are working hard to turn this brand into something big.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t believe anything you’re starting at can be a smooth road due to the learning curve. However, we haven’t come across anything that has caused any setbacks.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Mama Dee’s Whole Lotta F – what should we know?
We cook New Orleans flavor based food. We are known for the flavor of our food. That we’re doing this as a family. I’m willing to go to the moon to make this a success.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I believe in quality over quantity. Put time and love into it just like I like my food.
