Lauren, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Well, I have two businesses. I started my hair business back when I was in college and I started my clothing business last year sometime, but never really took either serious. I was an athlete in college, had a job, joined a sorority, and then when back to college for a second degree. Tbh It was always loved by my followers. It was days I never promoted, but people would still inquire and support. It’s like I didn’t even try but look at God wow. My phone never stopped ringing, so back in June-July 2020, I made up my mind and told myself, “stop playing with these folks” hahah. Since then, I’ve been a full-time entrepreneur and I must say it’s not easy, but definitely worth it.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Ohhhhh nooo! Nothing smooth about entrepreneurship; you really have to be a strong-minded individual in this field. It’s days I wake up and just sit and think about all the things I have to do. Mind-blowing!!! On top of that, life itself lol! If I tell you my struggles, you wouldn’t believe me and plus, it’s just what comes with the business. No one will understand, but I don’t complain about it, I just do it. There’s time where I have to just focus on my business and put everything else to the side. All the leisure activities I once was doing had to go and friendships as well if they weren’t understanding.

Tresses by Lauren specializes in quality supreme hair extensions and LA’PAIGE & CO. specializes in clothing/style. Both pretty much do the same thing! Making whoever supports feel and look good. A style. A vibe. A character. That’s it!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Integrity, patience, resilience, ambitious, honesty, positivity, optimism, confidence, and being able to right my wrongs (the list goes on but I’ll keep it short). I say that (righting my wrongs) because I can deal with constructive criticism, especially when I’m wrong. I like all feedback and it’s just a good feeling when you can take that and grow from it.
