Hi SK, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I started this business in 2006 while working full-time as an accountant and college professor. I was very good at what I did, but I didn’t love it. After experiencing two miscarriages I thought I would never be a mother but them in 2018 I had my miracle baby and my whole life changed. While pregnant every day I told my daughter, “Please live so I can show you how much I love you”… I decided that it was time for me to pursue my passion so that I can be there for my daughter. I did not return to work after having my daughter and turned my part time passion into my full-time job. I had so many friends and sorority sisters that were on a low carb diet and needed help with meal preparation. A large part of my clientele is Keto/Low Carb but I service all diets. I also offer private dining which has been so important to my clients who don’t want to eat out at restaurants due to the pandemic. I am truly living my dream right now and I owe it all to my daughter and my husband Michael for supporting me and my business.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was difficult in the beginning because I had such a small child and I was a mother at 41!!! I am a numbers person and didn’t really make much money in my first year because I didn’t calculate food cost and labor correctly. I love to cook and just wanted to make delicious healthy food for my clients. I also had to manage my time properly because I also had a baby that was nursing and needed me fulltime

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in Low Carb/ Keto food preparation and desserts. I like so many people do not like dieting. I prefer to do a lifestyle change that makes you feel like you are not missing out on anything. I am able to make healthy low carb food and desserts that my clients love and appreciate. What sets me apart are my meal prep entrees are dishes you would expect to get at a restaurant but I make them affordable and healthy. I tell my clients all the time, it doesn’t matter what your dietary restrictions are, food is to be enjoyed.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Social Media has helped me out a great deal. When it comes to food, people are very visual so pictures of my food have made my business more successful.
