Hi Diana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Diana Gonzalez. I began the journey of Born2Slay Accessories in 2017. It always has been a dream of mine to create a platform for women like myself that is ALWAYS on the go with children and don’t have spare time to shop for themselves. I have been in the industry for over two years. I love fashion. I absolutely admire fashion designers like Emilio Pucci, Gabrielle Bonheur Coco Chanel, Karla Lagerfeld, amongst other well-known designers in the industry. What fulfills me is seeing the Women in my city looking their BEST and Slaying effortlessly with my pieces…my brand. That makes me beyond proud of the process every effort, all the late nights early mornings, all the research is paying off. I have expanded my business to my native place in South America, Colombia, in a little town name (Buenaventura Valle del Cauca), which is where I’m originally from. As a little girl back in my country, we had rented space below our home to a tailor, and I would watch them design clothes & sew them. Every extra piece of fabric left, they would give it to me to take home to create clothes for my dolls and accessorized them with any piece of jewelry they came with. My mom is also an amazing fashionista. I absolutely love her style is chic is simply fabulous. My biggest motivation is my children; I have two eight-year-old twins (Boy & Girl) who are always giving props & gassing me up about every piece I select while working on my inventory when they attend the popup shops I sign for. My twins and my significant other are my #1 fans. I couldn’t ask for more God, along with my family, my dreams have taken me this far.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Obstacles will always be there. I take as challenges, of course, I have struggled, especially at the beginning of creating my brand must definitely. The first approach is to know who you are and what you are capable of doing. From there, God will lead the way I’m a firm believer of that. You must have confidence that this what you want to commit to because this is part of you, your future & your children’s future, a legacy you want to leave for them to continue. Nothing in life is easy, but if you set your mind, nothing is impossible, which is why I’m still here. I’m still working towards my goals. No matter the industry, obstacles will be there. There have been insurances where I’m ready to quit and shut down. But then I remember why I started.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about you’re your work?
Aside from being a business owner, I was in the Oil and Gas industry, which is big in Texas. I have been in this field for the past 13 years. I started as a receptionist, moved up to Admin., Then Executive assistant to now Accounting. What I’m most proud of is being able to pursue my dreams and achieve them. I’m not quite where I would like to be, honestly. However, I’m certain I will get there. I believe what sets me apart from everyone is my charm (lol) I’m very open and welcoming. I’m always open to meeting new people and create relationships. I love to make everyone laugh; I can live up a room by just passing on great energy. I simply love to enjoy my surroundings with awesome positive, enchanting people.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Lastly, I would like to share with everyone that no matter what comes across your path, never lose your purpose.
