Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnnie Williams.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Starting off from a small town in Buckholts, Texas, as a small boy, I enjoyed working on cars to pass the time away. As time passed I wanted more, I moved to Houston to continue my education at UTI. Once I graduated from UTI, I began working for independent owned shops, bouncing around trying to find the job that fit my desires and dreams. Thru dealerships, and private shops the dream of owning my own began to grow greatly.
Yet working for others and paying attention to how others conducted business gave me ideas of how I wanted to run my own shop.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Getting started is not easy. Trust of another is not easy to gain and when you’re working on a larger investment of a person. Not only was it a chore to get to know people but get people to realize my levels of expertise and my desire to run a business on integrity, pride in my work, customer service not treating people as a customer but as extended family.
I began doing mobile work sometimes never even making enough money from the job to cover the gas I spent to drive to them, but the ability to meet them show my ability and knowledge as well as gain trust. All priceless.
Given the opportunity thru family support, I was able to open my own shop in October of 2017. That also was not as easy as swinging the door open and thinking that people would just flock thru the doors. The next challenging step was selling myself to the public and convincing them that they would want an independent small shop over a large commercial shop. Passing fliers walking parking lots, utilizing as many free ad places as possible again getting jobs way under bid sometimes not even getting paid by customers yet showing them again my knowledge, my integrity, my passion. I created a Facebook page to be able to show off my work to others so they can see what I can do, have done and will do to earn trust, and their desire to use me over any other place they can.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Top Speed Auto Care – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I can do all work from the simple brakes, oil changes, tune ups, and water pumps. I more enjoy challenges of electrical work, and larger projects as LS engine swaps. The art of working with the customer to create a vehicle of their dreams, creating for some what was only a dream.
I will drive out of my way late evening to change something as small as a fuse, I have driven with customers to look and vehicles they would like to purchase but are not too sure about the condition of the vehicle.
My biggest is trust, loyalty, and customer service.
I host meets once a month, meet with food, drinks, cake, and prizes. I enjoy this as it gives my other customers a chance to meet, making them all extended family, I like to see the work I have done and hear the customers pride in their investments. We all meet new friends offer advice and share stories.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I hope one day to be large enough to have many bays filled with cars, projects, in a lot of ways. I wanna be Houston’s next popular garage for fun, integrity, awesome cars, and great work.
