Meet Ross Tremonte of Texas TRU Distribution

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ross Tremonte.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ross. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Before I started my company Texas TRU Distribution, I had always been a service industry person. All of my life, I had waited tables and bartended. In 2006, I began working with a small distributor in Houston selling beer and eventually wine.

Working for a smaller company allowed me the opportunity to have a more hands on education on how the business is run. In 2009, a Craft Distillery from Los Angeles was trying to break into the Texas market. I had originally showed this product to the company that I was working for and they were not interested although the products were amazing. With the Craft cocktail scene starting to emerge, I saw this as an opportunity to start my own company. On New Year’s Eve 2010 I flew out to Los Angeles to visit the distillery and give them my business plan. As their distillery grew, I grew with them and now we offer an entire portfolio of Craft Spirits focused on superior quality. Our goal is become a leader of the industry for Craft Spirits in the state of Texas.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My years of experience in the service industry and in distribution have prepared me for starting Texas TRU Distribution. It became a natural progression for me to eventually transition into starting my own business.

When I started Texas TRU, I barely had enough money to obtain the license, pay the first month’s rent and order my first pallet.

In the beginning I did everything myself, all of the selling, delivering and book keeping were just some of my responsibilities. On the weekends, I would work a second job to make ends meet. It has taken some time for business to grow and become sustainable but we have persevered. I like to describe my company as like a blossoming flower and we are turning into something beautiful!

We are a local distributor that focuses on Craft Spirits in the state of Texas.

Hard work. If you work hard then good things will come.
