Rising Stars: Meet Keandra Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keandra Jones

Hi Keandra, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Keandra Jones. I am 26 years old. I am a mother of two children. I currently work with Child Protective Services while pursuing my Masters degree at UT Arlington in order to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and eventually provide services to women of color affected by trauma. At the beginning of my spiritual journey, I was exposed to what is called yoni (vaginal) steaming through another black-owned business, which led me to further explore and express myself. I love educating women and empowering women to be themselves wholeheartedly. There is a lack of conversation in the black community regarding sexuality and sexual/reproductive health. There are many women who are misinformed and miseducated on feminine wellness altogether. Kooty Kat Kare, LLC makes education a key aspect of engagement because of this. I, myself, had to trial and error my way to a healthy womb as well as adjust to my womb after childbirth. There are many women who were strictly told, “you better not get pregnant” instead of being educated on how to care for themselves. Many women faced heavy periods, as early as their teenage years, while being diagnosed with fibroids and PCOS and given the notion that they will not have children. There is an herb for each organ in the body, and I just so happened to fall in love with the ones that assist women in reaching their full feminine divinity as well as confidence. All herbs are hand blended with fresh, natural herbs. I launched my feminine wellness business alone in 2020 during the pandemic. Since launching, I have reached over 200+ women, including out of state and international orders being shipped. It is a tremendous blessing to hear the feedback from women with different wombs, being able to tap into their power.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Things have not been smooth the entire time. I am the only person investing time, money and lack of sleep into my business. I act as the distributor, web designer, accountant and more! While having two children, there are times where I am not able to dedicate the time necessary to complete certain tasks, which reflects at times. I have faced financial loss due to labels being made incorrectly, size and overall design. I have dealt with thoughts regarding how the business is run and how things would get done. Regardless of the bumps along the way, I am thankful for the experience gained. There is beauty in the struggle, and that is what has kept me persistent and will continue to push me forward.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I began my career as an investigator with Child Services. I have since transitioned to more on hands case work in order to engage long term with families to help them meet their goals. I am most proud of my determination and ability to face adversity. I am able to advocate for those who do not have a voice to fight for themselves. I am most unique in my approach to engagement with people that the majority would otherwise so not have empathy for. I am able to see people for themselves in a genuine fashion in order to support them to be better, which is ultimately better for the children. Life circumstances affect us all in different ways. The way we respond and cope with these things determine the quality of our lives. I can act as a pillar of support and if I can change one life, I have done my job. “A measure of a life is it’s service” – SHSU Motto

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was an extroverted introvert. As I got older, I was interested mostly in track and field! I won the state in track in high school and spent a lot of time at practice or completing school work. I attended Temple College, obtaining dual credit my junior and senior year to keep me busy. I am from a small town with not much to do in the area. I spent a lot of time with my grandmother and simply asking questions about life in general. I was not sheltered from the truth about life. I have always known that my purpose was bigger than me and I have always been a “helper” or someone to come to for advice.
