Today we’d like to introduce you to Lafayette Taylor
Hi Lafayette, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My original home is Fairbanks, Alaska but the true place I felt at home was Los Angeles, California. I moved to LA with my mother, father, grandpa, and little sister in 2001, and we lived with my aunt and cousins. It was really crazy because I wasn’t use to that type of living condition. However, living in LA allowed me to focus on my music and sports throughout my educational career. During this time I was a member of a group called, “2Emotional” but we broke up in 2004. That experience helped me to learn more about myself; I loved being in a group because of the unity it brought when multiple people shared a passion.
In 2004, I was in community college on a track and music scholarship. I signed a deal with Sony, and although that was a short-term deal, I learned a lot about how to navigate my own career in the entertainment industry. When I moved to Houston, Texas in 2008, I started working with a bail bonds company. In 2010-2015 I owned a bail bonds company called Nonstop Bail Bonds. In 2016, I was able to build and become the Co-owner of Davis-Taylor Artist Development Center and CEO of Nonstop Muziq Group, LLC. In 2019, we closed the facility. With all of these experiences and the recent passing of my father, my love for music and the entertainment business in general, I gained more focus so I released my first single “Why Why Why.” This song led me to coining a name that is embedded in my heart-“1 Soundvibe!” With that, I ended up finding a new location and obtained my LLC for 1Soundvibe Studios, which now has transformed into 1Soundvibe Entertainment, LLC. I am creating opportunities for my affiliates in all business ventures by helping and pushing them to turn their hustle into a business, while bringing unity amongst artist, creatives and business owners to Houston, TX.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all-as I mentioned before, I had to move from California to Texas without my family and just believe that I could make it. I knew that I could work but I wanted to work for myself and that took everything I had mentally, physically, and emotionally to bet on myself to make it. Of course, I am still working harder everyday but when I truly went out alone, I created connections and had to use the jobs I didn’t like to fund my dream career.

This is why creative business owner Lafayette Taylor is ramping up the 1 SoundVibe Creatives Meet Up! 1 SoundVibe Studios presents the 1 SoundVibe Creatives Meet Up to bring unity for women and men in business, specifically, but not exclusively, within the black community. Taylor’s mission is to bring more awareness to Houston creatives by developing a hub that fosters community for business professionals to work together more closely on projects to accomplish goals together. 1 SoundVibe Creatives Meetup caters to young and established professionals ages 18-43. What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I am an underdog, there are a lot of people who had doubts and still doubt my capabilities, but it never stopped me from being the man that I am today. I love to be the underdog and don’t mind helping my fellow underdogs “It’s That 1 Sounbvibe!”
