Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashly Johnson.
Hi Ashly, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Ashly Johnson, I am a masseuse, born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, my family and I moved to Katy, Texas after hurricane Katrina devastated my city in 2005, my family struggled with the change of pace between the two cities & the change in culture but overall we made the proper adjustments in our everyday life and we accepted Houston as our new home, I attended high school in Cypress, Texas where I excelled at women’s wrestling which got me a scholarship to wrestle at a college of my choice, my early college years I wanted to become a English teacher/wrestling coach, about three years later I decided I wanted to take a risk and chase my long dreams of becoming a massage therapist, growing up I always massaged my mother’s feet after her long work days, she was a single parent raising me and my brothers alone so relieving her of pain when I could brought me much joy, I would also massage my brothers, friends and family, it made me smile to see the relief it would bring them each time, I noticed that massaging brought me happiness because I could make others feel better about themselves , massage therapy has many mental health benefits so it is very rewarding to boost others spirits not only physically but mentally as well.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road by any means to get to the place I am today, one of my biggest struggles was losing my father in November of 2020 and still having to show up every day to make a living for myself because it is very hard trying to run a business that has everything to do with physical touch during a pandemic with a virus that could be spread by touch, it was a very scary time because business was so slow I wasn’t sure how I would be able to provide for myself ,but I am very grateful that I could see the silver lining through it all and use my pain as motivation to keep making an impact and fulfilling my purpose.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a masseuse, I specialize in Swedish massage therapy and deep tissue massage therapy, I am known for my unique massage style, good playlists and my ability to make my clients feel comfortable. I am most proud of my progress so far in my career, and this opportunity to let my story be heard. blessed by big red is unlike any other massage business because I offer a unique massage experience that is the most relaxing and therapeutic, my hands are unlike any others.
Any big plans?
My plans for the future include me progressing as a therapist and I am looking forward to expanding in the years to come, continuing to build until I can create work opportunity for other massage therapists.
