Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Escamilla.
Hi Nancy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My love for the beauty industry started when I was as young as 13. I remember learning how to dye my own hair and teaching myself how to make my own hair extensions. I would spend hours on the internet watching make-up and hair tutorials but it wasn’t until I graduated High School that I knew I wanted to make this a career. When I graduated High School, I decided to first attend college and major in Psychology. While in college, I was blessed with a huge surprise, I became a mother to a beautiful girl. Becoming a mother very unexpectedly made it difficult for me to continue going to school so I decided to put college on hold and focus on being a mother. Once It was time to go back to school, I decided that I was going to pursue something that I had put on hold, it was something that I was passionate about. Excited about my future, I joined a Cosmetology Course and successfully graduated in 2019. After I received my license, I decided to take a lash extension coarse and that’s when my true passions for Lashes began. I’ve always felt like lashes are the cherry on top to every look, It enhances a woman’s beauty by shaping the eye. I started off by practicing on my Mother and once I started to feel a bit more comfortable, I then started to offer my service to my family members.
On August 2020, I decided to open up an Instagram business page and that’s when The Beauty Room was born. When I chose my logo name, The Beauty Room, I wanted to make sure it fit perfectly with how I wanted my clients to feel as soon as they walked in the room. I wanted them to feel beautiful coming in and leaving out. Not only has my passion for lashes grown ever since I opened up my business to the public. I’m thankful for the amount of support I have received in less than a year. I have came across so many beautiful woman that love my work enough to keep on coming back and that to me is the most rewarding thing. My way of expressing myself has always been through creativity. Being able to do something I love daily by helping a woman feel beautiful is what keeps me going. I’m thankful for how far I have came in the lash industry and I’m looking forward to seeing how much more my business will grow. One of my major goals in this industry is to one day be able to share my knowledge by offering training classes to teach other woman everything I have learned.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It is true when people say if it was an easy road everyone would be doing it. It hasn’t been a smooth road for me which at times had me feeling doubtful about my goals. For many mothers, having children is what stops them from pursuing their goals. As for myself, having a child is what has kept me motivated to become my own boss. I had to learn to pick myself up plenty of times on the days when I felt like I was losing motivation. I learned to balance my work life with motherhood life and although some days are harder then other, I’m thankful for all of my blessings and struggles that have came along the way. I know that all the obstacles that come with becoming a business owner is what’s helping me be the woman I wish to successfully become one day.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in Lash Extensions. The beauty of lash extensions is that every set I create is unique and customized to my client’s eyes. I have clients that like the simple styles which are called Classic Lashes and I have others who love the glamorous styles which are known as Volume Lashes. I personally love every set I get to crate but I’m very known for Volume Lash Extensions. What sets me apart from other Lash Artist in this industry is the passion that I have for my work. There’s a lot of work that gets put into my customized lash sets. Most importantly, the high-quality material that is being used on my clients. I want my clients to leave my studio happy and feeling beautiful with their lash sets. My goal is to always achieve that by giving my clients the best experience they can get while being in my studio.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
When I opened up my business page, I knew that I was taking a big risk. It was definitely something out of my comfort zone but I knew that if I wanted to be successful in this industry, I had to learn to be my own fan by proudly showing my work to the world. Taking this risk was the best thing I could have ever done for myself, it made me leave fear behind and focus on the good things in life. I read a book once called The Alchemist and till this day, this quote has stuck to me, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” My advice to anyone who is thinking about opening up their own business is to just go for it and have faith that you will succeed in whatever it is you want. As long as your passionate in what you do the Universe will help you achieve your goals. Take risks, get out of your comfort zone and always remember that if you don’t go out on the branch, you’re never going to get the best fruit in life.
