Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristy Lund.
Hi Kristy, we’d love for you to start by telling us your story and how you got started!
It was mothers day this past year, we were hanging out poolside enjoying the day. Our kids were visiting and my daughter n law and I got to chit-chatting about looking for work sense we were both laid off do to covid-19. My daughter n law, Amber, used to manage a popular boutique in Kingwood and was laid off in March. I was a structural designer for a large oil n gas company and I was laid off in March as well. We both enjoy gardening and boutiquing in our past time. I said to Amber “we should open our own Boutique & Garden, there isn’t anything like this in the area”!
I saw the need for our community to have something like this. So… that’s how we got started. Just the dream of doing our own thing and creating something that we would love. The garden centers definitely didn’t slow down during the pandemic… and having a boutique… well it makes for small business shopping, which is also beneficial during the pandemic. Another note… we came up with our name from a tattoo Amber has… its very fitting. The Beehive… a place where all the honeys can get some sweet stuff!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This transition definitely had its challenges. No banks wanted to give loans during the pandemic, so I took a leap of faith and invested in myself and Amber. All of my saving and investments have been put into this. If I don’t believe in myself, no one else will. It’s our dream, it’s our future, we have to make our own paths.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
We have only been opened for six months and the only lesson I have learned thus far is… Believe in yourself and have faith that God will carry us thru these tuff times.
